Digital camera Review: Battery issues at 2 months old

I got this for my birthday mid-March 2008. It's now mid-May. The Forerunner has ceased powering on if it is off the charger. All indications seem that it is working normal so I can only assume this is a battery issue. I updated the firmware as Garmin suggested and tried the manual reset per the Garmin website... it still doesn't power on without being connected to the computer/charger. I'm in the process of sending it back to Garmin for replacement. This is very disappointing because I was making great strides with my running due to it's very detailed running display. A real letdown. Other reviews indicate the same malfunction and when replaced, the replacement unit malfunctioned soon as well. Bummed!
Update 12/08/2008. Sent the unit in under warranty and received a new one. No malfunctions since then!!! Would change the star rating but it won't let me.

In a nut shell...You have to get it. It is an awesome device that will keep track of a lot of things. No more second guessing you pace and distance. You might not like the Garmin at first because it will tell you that you ran 4 miles, when you thought that your morning loop is 5 miles. There is nothing else out there that you can easily carry or wear and get accurate information on your pace, speed, elevation, distance....However, the Garmin 205 is able to do this. My runs have become more interesting. It is fun to review your run when you get home and upload the information.

The Forerunner 205 is the best runner's tool now on the market. It is GPS based and appears to be very accurate in open sky situations. You get all the information a runner/biker needs at a glance. Choices available include speed, pace, time, time of day, elevation, lap time, lap pace, lap speed, average speed, max speed and much more. It even shows a breadcrumb trail of the route you have traveled. When synced with the included "Training Center" software it gives a record of your workouts to go back and compare to.
