Digital camera Review: Foot pod might die on you for no reason
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this item over a year ago for $120 and it came with the footpod, HRM, watch and USB ANT stick. I really liked it. If you use it a lot you get used to the software. It can pace you by speed or Heart rate, and will beep if you fall behind. I really liked that i could track my speed. But then the Foot Pod died out of nowhere. I replaced the battery, but it still would not connect with the watch. And now buying the replacement foot pod by itself costs $120. I'm really disappointed in garmin and this product. In fact i feel completely ripped off.

I'm considering getting the Nike +Ipod sportkit instead, at least if it breaks it will only cost me $30 to replace.

Summary: 5 Stars

This is the second Forerunner 50 I bought. I've owned one for about a year, and I just bought one for my wife as a birthday present. I think the Forerunner 50 is a great device if your looking for a basic distance/pace/heart rate monitor. The watch is about the size of a regular watch, the footpod is unnoticeable, and the heart rate monitor is very comfortable. I also like the computer software to organize all of my activities. I think this is great if you like running non-standard routes and you want to know how far your running! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to run more seriously and track distance and time, and not break the bank.

Digital camera Review: GPS-experienced...Glad I switched!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used Garmin GPS products for years, but I needed something that works inside and I am moving to a part of the world that will not support mapping, so GPS capability is really not important for me. I looked at the Polar RS800SD and loved it, but the price was just too high. With the Garmin Forerunner 50 I get exactly what I need without features I really don't. I like the user-replaceable batteries--very convenient for me (I am on the road a lot) and I am happy with the software package. This is definitely a quality piece of gear!

Digital camera Review: Garmin 40 w/ Pedometer and Heart Monitor
Summary: 3 Stars

This product is very functional. It provides all of the basic information needed for running. Although the watch isn't very stylish, it is much more discrete than other similar products out there. The buttons don't work as well as my Timex watch and the screen is a little dim for my liking, but these don't detract too much from the value of the product. My largest complaint, though, is with the software. The ANT Agent has difficulty picking up the unit after I have stored information from my runs. I would suggest it to a budget conscious consumer, but not for more serious runners.

If you need a training watch that measures heart rate, distance, pace, calories, and is inexpensive this is it. The chest strap and foot pod come pre-synched and work great right out of the box. The foot pod's measurement was right on with my car's odometer during my first 8.5 mile run. The watch is easy to use and looks like a watch. A solid 5 stars, way to go Garmin!
