Digital camera reviews of Garmin Forerunner Quick Release KitDigital camera Review: Great Product! Summary: 5 Stars
If you plan to use your Garmin for running and cycling, this quick release kit can't be beat. Its inexpensive, and it works well. The wrist strap is more comfortable that the plastic strap that comes with the device. Its very simple to set up. I highly recommend it.
Keep in mind that you remove the Garmin from its plastic wrist strap permanently. The kit provides a tool for this and it takes about five minutes. (You could put it back on if you want, but there it no reason to do so.) Attaching the other clip to the bike also takes about 5 minutes. Once its set up, the device easily snaps in an out of the identical clip on either the new wrist strap or the clip on your bike in about 1 second.
Last, Garmin also sells another plastic mount kit for the bike. It has a plastic (or rubber) gasket that fits over the handle bar. The Garmin straps onto this using the plastic wrist strap that comes with the device. I've never used that kit, so I can't compare. I had read that the Garmin moves around a bit on the bike with this method.
In any case, I am very happy with this product.
Digital camera Review: Great Product, Great Price Summary: 5 Stars
I am able to take my training with me now. For a triathlete, this is an invaluable tool.
Digital camera Review: Great accessory for the Garmin. Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great product, I have a small wrist and I have found this band to be much more comfortable than the big plastic one; but what I really like is the bike mount. Now I do not have to wear it on my wrist at all while riding, and all the info is right in front of me.
It was extremely easy to put on, they give you all the tools you need with it.
I have not used the setup while doing a triathlon yet, not sure if I will use the bike mount or just leave it on my wrist the entire time, either way it will be faster than trying to put the plastic band on.
Digital camera Review: Great addition for the 305! Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this product for about a month now and use it for training as well as a triathlon and a couple of running events. It is real nice and the watch mounts to the wrist strap and the bike easily and securely.
PROS:
- It is more comfortable than the band that ships with the 305
- The watch can be removed and added to the bike mount in seconds.
CONS:
- I can not slip the band around my hand with the strap in the buckle, so I have to feed it through which takes a few seconds. Triathletes may want to have it on prior to the race to avoid the few seconds it takes to put it on.
Digital camera Review: Great concept, Poor execution Summary: 1 Stars
I bought the kit, but the watch doesn't stay that well connected to the bike mount or the wrist mount. It uses tension on the watch strap pins to hold the watch to the mount. It's a nice idea, but when mounted on my mountain bike, it popped off with even just a little jarring. You don't want to have to stop and then search the woods for your Forerunner. It's not that easy to find. I took it skiing also with the velcro wrist band and the unit came off the watch mount when I was just tapping my poles on the snow. I'm glad it didn't come off on a run because going back uphill and looking for it would have been awful.
Now I use a Polar watch mount on my bike and leave the Garmin on its original watch strap. It's easy to get on and off, and doesn't come off unless I undo the strap. It feels so much more secure. I've had it come off the mount once in a mountain bike crash but it was still looped around the handlebars so it didn't get anywhere. The Polar mount is less expensive also.
