Digital camera reviews of Garmin Forerunner Quick Release Kit

Digital camera Review: Not secure enough!!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this kit after reading positive reviews about it, and in fact was happilly using it for 6 months. That is until my Garmin FELL OFF the wristrap during a city run. I didn't notice it until a while later, so have clearly lost the unit. Good idea, but in my experience the mount is not secure enough to use with a $200+ piece of equipment!!! An expensive mistake.

Digital camera Review: Perfect Forerunner 305 accessory
Summary: 5 Stars

This kit is a MUST for anyone who runs and bikes. The bike mount works flawlessly and has no trouble staying put once the zip ties are cinched down (it includes a small rubber pad to provide some extra grip). Once the Forerunner display is configured properly in "Bike" mode, it's every bit as good as the Edge 305.

For running, I find the velcro wrist strap a bit more comfortable than the watch-style strap that the Forerunner 305 comes with. The velcro strap also has the advantage of keeping the back of the Forerunner from direct contact with your wrist. This prevents sweat from getting on the contacts and also makes it easier to hear audible alarms you might have configured on the Forerunner. The velcro strap is also an advantage for triathletes: wear the wrist strap during the swim (sans Forerunner; it's waiting for you on your bike), and during the bike -> run transition, it's a snap to quickly get the Forerunner off your bike and onto your wrist.

If you have multiple bikes, you can also get just an additional quick-release bike mount (sold as a "replacement") so you're not stuck with extra wrist straps. Combine the Forerunner 305 with this kit and the GSC 10 cadence sensor, and you have a pretty sweet wireless bike setup that doubles as a fantastic running device.

The only thing that's tricky about this is getting the zip ties cinched down tight. A pair of needle-nose pliers is helpful here.

Digital camera Review: Perfect for cycling use
Summary: 5 Stars

I had been wearing my Garmin Forerunner 305 on my wrist during cycling outings and it was sometimes hazardous for me to check the data while in motion. This bike mount is the perfect answer! It mounts on the handlebars where your eyes can easily see the info on the Forerunner display without having to ride one-handed. Much safer. The mount itself is plastic, but the Garmin 'head' snaps in securely and is easy enough to remove. The Velcro wrist strap that comes with this kit replaces the Forerunner's original plastic wrist strap and is much easier to adjust. Setting up the bike mount was easy. The instructions were clear and everything I needed was included in the kit. I'm very pleased with this product and use it several times a week.

Digital camera Review: Perfect to turn your Garmin Forerunner 305 into a bike computer
Summary: 5 Stars

This was an excellent purchase, glad I made it, though I was a little hesitant at first. Lets you attach your Garmin Forerunner 305 to your bike securely, and provides a new wrist band (velcro) for when you run/hike. I purchased this and the cadence sensor, and now I use this for my bike computer as well as running. Top notch combo to increase your training effectiveness. Good luck!

Digital camera Review: Perfect, except when you lose your Garmin
Summary: 1 Stars

A fantastic product, easy to install, watch snaps in and out of the mount with a little effort. Makes it easy to transfer your Gramin from bike to bike. All great.

Except... when you look down to check your Garmin and IT ISN'T THERE!

I had one issue with it popping out during a cyclocross race, but it was after a jump and I couldn't really fault it for that. On my last road ride, looked down during a hill sprint and it was just gone.

My impression is that it bailed a little earlier when I hit a pothole.

When all is said and done, this mount should be able to withstand a bump without the computer committing suicide.

Don't buy if you want to keep your watch.
