Digital camera reviews of Garmin GSC 10 Speed/Cadence Bike SensorDigital camera Review: A Great Addition for the ForeRunner Summary: 5 Stars
This Unit is the perfect addition for me as it extends my Forerunner 305 to my bike giving me all the speed and cadence data I need.
Also of importance is that it mounts to the REAR of the bike, so the rear wheel provides the speed input (not the front like most bike computers) - this means it is PERFECT for indoor trainer riding and my Garmin can pick up mileage, speed and distance from the back wheel while my bike is hooked up to the indoor trainer. Of course it works h=just fine on the road too.
Digital camera Review: A gadget that doesn't mount easily on a mountain bike Summary: 3 Stars
Once installed, the cadence sensor just works. It is useful? Not really: don't expect major improvements in your performance. At the end of the day, it's your body who will tell you how hard or fast or powerful you can go. It's a gadget that caters to the boys with toys. The die hard riders have long ago switched to power sensors, which are far more useful (and expensive.)
To get it install, I had to do quite a bit of ninja patching. The space between the chain stay and crank of a mountain bike is quit a bit less than on a road bike, so the part with the magnet that's supposed to be attached to the crank just doesn't fit. My solution was to completely rip apart this part, extract the magnet and attach it to the crank with old fashioned duct tape.
Digital camera Review: A must for indoor bike training Summary: 4 Stars
Without this you will not be able to accurately use your indoor trainers and get good readings. Definitely a must to calibrate it so your results are as close to accurate as possible but a wonderful accessory for you Garmin Forerunner 305.
Digital camera Review: A must have for you Edge 305 Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Edge 305 w/o the cadence sensor thinking I don't need it but I was wrong. Once you realize what the Edge can give you for information and you start to plot everything ( I use SportTracks )you became addicted and you want cadence chart too !!!
Furthermore, the sensor allows you to get speed even when there's no GPS signal ( tunnel, cities, etc). A fact that overlooked.
Easy to install and the red/green light tells you if the unit senses the magnets which have to run pretty close to the unit. I would suggest you test the unit on your bike in a rather dark area to make it easier to look at the ligth on the unit.
Digital camera Review: Another great Garmin product Summary: 5 Stars
Simple to install. Pushed two buttons on the Forerunner 305. And bam! Works perfect.
