Digital camera Review: 2008 Garmin Map Update
Summary: 2 Stars

The product name is misleading. The 2008 update is really a 2007 update since Garmin is already advertising the upcoming 2009 update.

Haven't used the updated software on a trip yet but expect it to work satisfactorily. Disappointed by the fact that the roads in my neighborhood still do not appear in the maps. When I'm at home the GPS shows I'm out in a field. This neighborhood has been here for at least three years.

The product worked but not as well as I hoped. Also, it only allowed me to use it once and we have two.

BEFORE beginning the upload or install process visit the Garmin web site & be certain that your GPS is up to date.

The install process went very smoothly once the GPS unit was updated to its latest firmware. After updating your GPS the map upload takes about 40 minutes or so. The updated maps are just fine.

Should you encounter any problems with the updates the Garmin tech support people are very adept at getting you through them.

I WOULD recommend this product for purchase. And, I might add ..... Amazon.com had the best price for it.

Digital camera Review: 2008 Map Update for Garmin
Summary: 4 Stars

It is difficult to give an indepth assessment for this product due its complexity, however, having said that, I recently made an extensive trip across the United States and found that there is so much road construction taking place, it is no wonder keeping up to date for map updating must be a difficulty. I found that trying to change ones routing is confusing. One thing, I couldn't program detour routing via Interstate intersections...the Garmin seems to only respond to addresses only. Otherwise...navigating via a GPS is a marvel.
