Digital camera Review: 2009 Garmin Update
Summary: 4 Stars

Product did what I thought it would. With any mapping program it's hard to keep up with progress that happens everyday. Doesn't have locations built in the last year. Wouldn't go anywhere without my Garmin.

Digital camera Review: 2009 Update Just OK
Summary: 3 Stars

I ordered the Garmin 2009 Update for my Zumo the ordered arrived when they said it would. The install went flawless but I have to say I'm a little bit disappointed with the "new" POIs I would've thought it might be a little more "updated", several points in my own neighborhood were not accurate, it makes me wonder about some of the others.

Digital camera Review: 2009 Update from Garmin
Summary: 5 Stars

The new 2009 update loaded with no problems which, is what I expected from Garmin. I had found only one or two errors in my ZUMO'S original data and it was in St. Louis and I am not going there anytime soon to check it so, I will assume the 2009 update corrected it. Anyway, I am totally amazed by the GPS in the first place, one or two errors here and there does not bother me in the least. I have used the ZUMO once since loading the 2009 and, as usual, everything worked perfect on that trip.

Digital camera Review: 2009 update not really a 2009 update...
Summary: 3 Stars

Not only did the Amazon description make vague that this update worked only with the NT City Navigator (I had to buy the NT version of the City Navigator to use this update - which did not work with the previous version of City Navigator - an EXTRA $99) The software is reported to work with the two units that I own - and it does. It seems a little slower on map refresh and slower to call from the database any POI's over which you hover the pointer.
At the heart of my problem with this software is the fact that new roads (Interstate modifications that have been under construction for years and opened late in 2008) aren't even dotted lines on the map as some other new or planned roads are...This is a real problem with any NAVTEQ based product - as they are - by the admission of an employee - some 2 to 3 years behind in their ability to update their road database.
On the plus side, the POI database seems to be much more up to date and that is a very useful thing if you do any sort of traveling and want to find a place to eat that is still actually there...
If you have a Map Set that is older than 2007, then you should update the software, if only to get a newer set of POI's. But, make sure you are buying the right type of software - NT vs. Non-NT, AND that your particular unit supports the version of software, etc...And don't have unrealistic expectation that every road that exists today is included in the new Map Set Database...

Digital camera Review: A Fine Update for Your Garmin GPS
Summary: 4 Stars

I puchased this update for my Garmin StreetPilot 2720. After readin gthe reviews on the 2008 upgrade I decided to wait until this one came out - and glad I did.

The update added many of the new roads and highways around my area. I bought my GPS back in 2006 so there were many additions. It not only included the major highways but also some minor streets and avenues around my own city.

And since I live in Florida - the theme park capital of the world - it was nice to find several alternate routes to use to get the parks without having to travel the dreaded I-4.

All in all a great update for your GPS - although when you do install it, give yourself some time. Upgrading my unit took roughly 2 hours. I give it 4 out 5 simply because of the length of time it took to upgrade and it seems a bit pricey for this upgrade.
