I have been disappointed by the new software for Garmin 2009 City Navigator NT North America Map Update. It has updated some of the earlier problems with their information such as stores, restaurants, streets, etc. that have been out of business for 3 or more years, however, I expected something marketed as 2009 info would be more up to date. I still cannot find streets. addresses and businesses that have been in existence for the past 2+ years. Not so up to date after all and my unit is only one year old.
I contacted Garmin when I first purchased by unit about this shortcoming. Too bad it's still not fixed.

I purchased a Garmin GPS loaded with a 2007 map. I purchased the 2008 update map from Amazon and it arrived swiftly. When I installed the new 2008 map I could not notice any difference. The places that were not on the 2007 map were still not on the 2008 map. There should be some way to test to see if the new map has truly been updated before spending all that money. I feel ripped off by the supposedly "Updated" software as provided by Garmin. Amazon rates FIVE stars, Garmin update rates ONE!Digital camera Review: DO NOT BUY GARMIN MAP UPDATES!!

Garmin is still the leader in car GPS devices in the US. I own two units, a Street Pilot 2820 fixed in my car, and a Nuvi 680 which I take with me on my frequent business trips. I bought the 2008 updates but could see no difference. None of the new roads in my area had been added and the mistakes I've noticed (mislabeled roads, illegal turns) have not been fixed. I was only allowed to update one unit with the CD, even though both units are registered with My Garmin. I became really angry when my Street Pilot was stolen, and even though I reported the unit and serial number stolen to Garmin to prevent the thieves trying to update it, Garmin still would not let me install the Maps on my Nuvi! So the thieves have both my GPS and Garmin is letting them keep my $60 map updates.
I will not be replacing my GPS with a new Garmin as I had hoped. With this kind of customer service I'm going to wait for something better to come along. Garmin still make the best hardware, but the software is becoming a real let down. I'm very disappointed, and angry that I have been ripped off by what I thought was a professional company.

Do not purchase this product. I have a 2005 Street Pilot model c330. The subdivision I live in was completed in October of 2006 and here it is August of 2009 and it does not show my address, that's 34 months folks.
Do not waste your hard earned money on an outdated product.
