I recently bought an software update to Garmin's GPS for its product, Nuvi.
This 2009 Software update (I had the 2008 Software) did not have major roads (Interstates) that have been open since before 2008. I was disappointed that this was the case and think the money was not well spent.

I have owned my Garmin gps for over two years and have loved it. In addition, I use my gps both personally and professionally in home repair. One of the main reasons that I bought this update was that I couldn't find addresses in the newer subdivisions which are 2-5 years old. The update didn't improve that issue at all and for the first time the gps gave me wrong directions (told me to turn down a one way street in a old established neighborhood). To be quite honest, I haven't seen any benefit to buying the update, as a result I am very disappointed.Digital camera Review: Disastrous experience

Maps loaded fine on my Garmin, but understand no map data is perfect and I've already caught one error within a week. My issue with these updates are the price. You maybe better off buying a new GPS unit if yours is old.Digital camera Review: Don't Waste Your Money

I upgraded from the 2007 version and I do not notice any improvements. The roads that were not there on the software are still not there, even though the physical roads are five years old. I have used this in numerous parts of the USA and it is the same story - years behind.
