Digital camera reviews of Garmin MapSource Topo! U.S. 2008Digital camera Review: Useless if you have Garmin street maps Summary: 1 StarsI had heard that this is a useful complement to the Garmin US Street Maps. My view is that is us useless as a companion. Huge amount of memory is taken up on the street maps, which are redundant if you have City Navigator NT. Then, the scale of the topo maps (1:100,000) turns out to be useless for hiking purposes. This was just a mistake to get.
Digital camera Review: My 1st TOPO Experience Summary: 5 StarsWe just purchased the TOPO U.S. 2008 DVD and it was easy to install and even easier to navigate the maps we needed. We live in Hawaii and my husband recently purchased the Garmin Astro with Dog Collars and he has been enjoying the product very much. When we purchased the DVD it did exactly what he had hoped for, it gave him great detail and he was able to come home and review all he did on our computer. A perfect pair...I'm excited because the next family trip we take to the States I know we won't need a map and we'll spend no time getting lost!!!!
Digital camera Review: Garmin Topos 1:100,000 Summary: 5 StarsReally a deal. Works great stand alone on your computer or in my case on the Quest II.
Shows ever peak, valley, minor dirt road, most mines, etc. Honest, best deal going.
Digital camera Review: Great tool Summary: 5 StarsGarmin MapSource Topo U.S. 2008
I use the MapSourc to build maps of the area that i ride my ATV. I have the Data in my Garmon GPSmap 60CSx and my computers.
What is nice aboout it is that i can enter information into my GPS and then download it and then print a map.
An example would be one of the locations I ride in Montana. The ride tops out at a little under 10,000 feet, I can mark the locations of gold mines from the mid 1800s, where the snow is at in July and were to camp. Well worth the money.
Digital camera Review: Much needed product Summary: 4 StarsHaving had my camping GPS for a while, I had neglected to purchase the topo maps. Finally after getting them I'm glad I did. They provide a great view of the topography around me and I can better see where the hard hikes will be. If you have a camping GPS (I have the eTrex Legend HCx) then you should definitely get this set of maps for the backwoods.
