Digital camera Review: "Stickiness" of base degrades over time.

I've had one of these for a few years and it was fine when it was first purchased. However, lately I've noticed that it was slipping to the side of the dashboard when I made a fast turn and fell off the dashboard several times. If this keeps up, the GPS will likely eventually self destruct when it hits the shift knob. I looked carefully at the mount and it seems that the sticky rubber base has lost most of its "stickiness". It's kind of slick now and doesn't adhere with anything like the firmness it had when first purchased. (I live on Long Island, New York so it's not a place like Arizona where you'd expect UV rays to destroy just about anything.) As a matter of fact, I've purchased one of those rubber pads (they're sold to hold cellphones, etc) and placed the GPS mount on top of that. I'm also wondering whether I should take a knife and make cross hatches across the bottom to add some friction. At any rate, it's a good product but be prepared that it's main function will diminish over time
