Digital camera Review: A Must-Have if you use in your car

I have to admit, I was skeptical before buying. But after continual problems with the windshield mount either (a) semi-permanently bonding to the windshield, or (b) in cold weather, never sticking to the windshield, I tried the friction mount. It seems impossible for this to work - it's only using the drag between the mount and dashboard, no sticky stuff at all - but it works like a charm. Even when I hit turns hard, it doesn't even rock. And it's easy as pie to take it off the dash and stow when you're worried about thieves - in contrast to the windshield mount, which just says "please break in." The other reviewers have said it all re the advantages! I was the numbskull who didn't realize the sucker windscreen attachment would quite quickly become useless if left there in DC's broiling summer sun. Which of course happened within 6 weeks. The wretched thing kept coming unstuck and really became a driving hazard on more than one occasion. This friction mount has been terrific, yes, OK, it's a bit large, but easily moved when you don't need it, eg, when you want to hide the fact that you've got a GPS system. It certainly hasn't slid across the dashboard, and shows no signs of doing so. I'm delighted I bought it.Digital camera Review: A Very Worthwhile Accessory

Here in California, we can't legally attach a GPS unit to the windshield of our cars, so we need something stable on which to mount the GPS on the dashboard. This unit is masterful -- it simply does not move once you place it. Yet it's completely versatile -- you can move the GPS into any position easily and detach it from the dashboard mount. Very briefly, this little (well it's not that little) 'bean bag' to hold your Garmin car GPS is great. It doesn't shift or slide because it's underside is 'non-slip.' Rather than dinking around with suction cups (which BTW are not legal in all states) which tend to leave marks and can be a nuisance; so much of a nuisance that one may be tempted to leave the attachment in place ... which may entice a miscreant to perhaps think that you were lazy enough to leave your unit in the car.
