i just took this on a road trip to the Grand Canyon. Worked great with additional street mapping software. I thought i was going to use this unit more for backpacking but the reality is it gets used in my car mostly. Still that is why i got this unit. Why have a gps unit you occassionally use when this one can used for both car navigation and wilderness.

All useful maps cost extra. I book street maps for 100. But i would also like the topo maps 100 and Pacific ocean 100. Damn! that is too much.

I purchased this GPS from Amazon after read other's reviews and I am very happy about my decision. I was struggle between Legend C and Vista C but I found internal compass is very useful and give you a big picture which direction you are heading to. I consider this unit is useless until I loaded the MapSource City Select (it's not cheap but must have add-on software) . I carried this unit with me on my recent trip to San Diego and was amazed how convenient to have it while I driving in the city.
For the price and size, I don't have much to complain about it however I do hope internal memory can be a little bigger but it's not major problem since I travel with my laptop most of time and I can load the map when I need it. Don't forget purchase unit holder and car AC adaptor if you travel a lot on the road.
