Digital camera reviews of Garmin n?vi 265W/265WT 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic

Digital camera Review: Great present for older parents with aging eyesight
Summary: 4 Stars

My parents wanted the larger screen because this is their first GPS and they didn't want to squint at a tiny screen (or argue in the car like they do over maps). So far, it works. It does nauseate my mom when she tries to program it as a passenger in a moving car.

Digital camera Review: So Far, So Good!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this in December, 2009 and have used it extensively since then. I am impressed with the clarity of the display, as well as the overall functionality of the device. The unit starts quickly and accesses satellites quickly, as well. Re-calculating is very fast and the ability to download new vehicles and voices actually makes these devices fun. There is even a program for creating your own voice directions using your own voice! The voices loaded on the unit are very understandable, although pronunciation of some street names still leaves something to be desired (as with any GPS device). I haven't really needed the traffic function, but it did warn me of potential difficulties on one trip - well in advance of the problem (by the time I reached the problem area, traffic had cleared). I have had no difficulties with losing satellite reception. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Nuvi 265WT to anyone looking for a quality GPS device at an affordable price.

Digital camera Review: Good
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought it on Dec 2009 and used it for a 15 day trip in the west coast during the past holiday. These are a few comments that I wanted to share:

1- The first time that it searches for satellites takes about half an hour and you need to be outside to do that!
2- sometimes when you use the "avoid traffic" it gives you non-sense roots. I was in I15 (going from San Diego to Las Vegas) and I used the avoid traffic root. I drove about 30 miles in the new root and finally I reached to the end of the road and I had to drive back!!!

Digital camera Review: Good but not Great
Summary: 3 Stars

This unit is a great buy simply because it does everything you need a GPS unit to do, however there are a few things that drive me crazy about this device. Even with the newest maps the directions miss the most obvious routes that save the most time or make it the shortest distance. I can't tell you how many times that I knew of a better way to get somewhere that the GPS couldn't figure out. Even when you are on a direct route it simply wants to argue and convince you that a different way is faster or more direct. In those cases, it is always wrong.

The biggest problem with this device is the advertising. I hate the fact that I get advertising flashes on the device when I simply want directions. It is annoying and I have not figured out a way to disable this "feature". Add this problem to the fact that the traffic feature is nearly worthless (never accurate and never has a good suggestion as to how to re-route around it).

Overall it is a good device, but it has its shortcomings. I think Garmin needs to stop mass producing 100 variations of the GPS and just concentrate on improving just a few models.

Digital camera Review: Mostly Good
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this for my husband's birthday. While he had tried it before, last night was the first time I saw it in action. The only complaint I have is that the "voice" became garbled after 1 hour of use. I am not sure if it is a problem with the unit or if it is because it is really cold out and we had the defog on in the car. Anyway, we turned it off and turned it back on and it seemed to be okay. I will wait and see how well it sounds/performs when we drive from NY to GA.
