I bought this model specifically on the recommendation to get text to speech rather than just turn by turn directions. I definitely second that recommendation - this model not only tells you when to turn, but the specific street name or exit number - which is very beneficial. Only drawback I have with this is that the battery only lasts a couple of hours at full charge. Comes with a car cord - but I prefer not to have the wires running all over the dash.... I got the Nuvi 260 for my car and for the cost of the unit, it is completely awesome. It has street names, and the screen is plenty big for looking at the map (totally not worth the extra money to get the 260W for the extra inch of screen size in my opinion!). The navigation, for the most part is spot on as well. Just be aware if you have it set to take the shortest distance (not always the fastest) or the quickest trip to destination (not always the shortest).
My only gripe with the unit is that the plastic disk to stick on the dashboard is woefully inadequate at sticking to anything really, but I think that is only so you'll buy the dashboard friction mount for another $20. Otherwise this is a great product, it is the lowest price unit, I believe, that actually says the street names, and that's a big help when you're in unfamiliar territory.
