Digital camera reviews of Garmin nüvi 260 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Digital camera Review: Better than expected, right out of the box
Summary: 5 Stars

We attached the Nuvi 260 to the windshield in the parking lot, typed in the address we wanted (six states & 1200 miles away) and hit the road. The operation of the unit is idiot-proof, and the directions are clear and specific, right down to exit numbers (and whether they're on the left or right side of the highway) and street names. (Don't buy ANY GPS that doesn't announce actual street names!) If you miss a turn, or change direction for any reason, the Garmin instantly recalculates where you are and how to get back on course. Screen size is perfect. There's no reason to pay more for a larger display. The map graphics are excellent with a variety of alternate views. The 6-million pre-programmed points of interest proved to be important, too. After we reached our destination, we were able to find restaurants, parks, and a hardware store (ranked by name and distance) with three touches on the screen.

Digital camera Review: Big World Small Package!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Awesome visible graphics with speedy course correction, and portability!!
Fits in your handbag, or pocket so can be used in any vehicle, or while touring a city such as NYC :)

Digital camera Review: Buy This Now
Summary: 5 Stars

I spent months reviewing all gps on the internet and made my choice to purchase this Nuvi 260, and purchase it from the Amazon site. The price was excellent, fifty dollars less than the big box retailers with their holiday pricing.

I opend the box, turned it on and acquired the satilites in my living room. After reading the manual, I reviewd the tool box option and the help option on the unit. I did not have any questions, pretty self explanitory. Really easy to use. . When I discussed it with my wife,he said' another gadget', go aheasd and buy it if you think you need it. Now she will take the unit is she is going somewhere, and destinations are a snap to enter. We have the garmin friction mount, so it is just pickup the complete package, plug it in and go.
It keeps a three hour charge, but keep it plugged in and you are always ready to go. I am very satisfied with the gps. It keeps me updated, the verbal calling out of streets and turn directions is excellent. Like most gps', you might know a short cut somewhere and the unit does not, but it will get you there, if you go your way, it will reroute you from your current area. The only down side is it only has one stop point.\
I purchased an adapter for home at Amazon (agan best price) , so I can charge the unit at home, and plan my route. I use an internet map solution to plan the route, then enter the information into the 260, and off I go. No more maps nor or pieces of paper, which I had to shuffle and try to read while driving. Is an excellenbt unit, makes you feel more secure while driving in an unknown area. Do not hesitate to purchase this one.

Digital camera Review: Can Be a LIfesaver
Summary: 3 Stars

I've seen some lifesaving qualities using this Garmin, as well as some frustrating qualities.

Lifesaving:
-It will tell you in how many miles the next gas station is approaching.
-It will tell you when the next In & Out is on your road trip.

Frustrating:
-It has NOT been accurate 100% of the time.
-It doesn't always recognize when it is legal to make U-turns so the system will tell me to drive out of the way and all around the block.

I definitely recommend the product but be aware it is not always 100% accurate...

Digital camera Review: Can be a little confusing
Summary: 5 Stars

We were able to easily download new voices from the Garmin website. We found one that was more understandable. It's funny....drive (dr) becomes doctor, State Road (sr) became senior. Text to speech is terrific. Off road was terrible. It got screwed up. No highlighted roads.

It's nice if you happen to need to take a different road because it will recalculate for you from that spot. Not all stores/restaurants, etc. are on it. So it helps to know the address. If you want to know someplace generic in another town from where you are, it won't work. You will need an address. It's not magic...but it's very helpful and we're glad we bought the nuvi 260.
