Digital camera reviews of Garmin nüvi 260W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS NavigatorDigital camera Review: After a lot or research... Summary: 4 Stars
After a lot of research, I found that the 260W had all the basic functions that I needed at a great price. I took it on a trip from NC to MI. It is a useful tool to have. It is great for getting around unknown territory. I am impressed with how many POI that is has. My wife proclaimed that she would have never thought to get a navigation system but was glad to have it on our trip.
My one complaint is that I doubt its accuracy when finding the fastest way to get to a location (even when 'fastest' route is selected). I find myself second guessing it often.
Final Thoughts: Easy to use. Looks Great. Lots of Points of Interest (POI's). Might not always be the fastest route but rest assured you won't get lost.

Wow! Ordered on a Sunday, shipped on Monday and recieved it on Wednesday... with free shipping!
Had it set up and working within in minutes. Nice, bright and clear screen.
I bought this because I now drive limos and charter buses, and my night vision isn't what it used to be. Used it last night...I feel "whole" again! Pinpoint accuracy.
My only complaint...thus the four star rating...it should come with the freakin' USB cable to download the updates !!! What would that cost Garmin?... maybe $.50? Ridiculous, in light of the fact that you have to have it for that purpose!!!
Don't waste money on a carry case either!... use a sock.

I have owned about 3 Garmins prior to the 260W and they were all amazing. I am really disappointed in this particular model. The C330 and the smaller 3.5" 255 worked fine.
It seems like the 255W screen is about 30% larger but the device includes the same processor, memory and programming as the smaller 255. What this means is the same processor has to render about 30% more screen with the same resources. If you press a button it can take almost 1/2 second to update the display. If you press 3 or 4 keys on the screen it can take up to 2 seconds before the screen refreshes. This is really annoying if you are several characters into your "City" or "Address" and find the screen is so busy trying to update that it did not detect a character or two so you have to wait forever before you can backspace and re-enter the text.
They also made the on-screen keyboard smaller despite the larger screen? I have no idea why.
There is also one last annoying thing about the Garmin that Google Maps, for example, seems to have figured out. The routing mechanism gives no penalty for traffic lights. So if you have a freeway that goes 2 blocks out of the way and Garmin has a direct route through 30 traffic lights then it will choose the 30 traffic lights rather than the freeway.

I recently purchased the Garmin nuvi 260W for a trip to Newark, New Jersey and then on to Massachusetts. Since I was deviating from my normal route and had to go into the city rather than around it, I figured it was a good excuse to buy a GPS.
Overall I was pleased with the product. The turn-by-turn directions were perfect and the countdown by tenths of a mile to feet was helpful. However, my husband found "Samantha's" voice totally annoying.
The one downfall I had with the product (and this could be chalked up to user error) was that our trip from NJ to MA was via the George Washington Bridge (thru Manhattan)!! What a harrowing ordeal - I was ready to toss the GPS over the bridge by the time we got through there!
The reason I suggest it might be user error is that I would like this product to be more interactive. I have not been able to figure out how to put in just a city or a specific point without having to have an actual address. An ideal addition - and this may be available on other Garmin GPS units - would be to click and point where you want to go without having to use VIA points. (Sort of like the revised Mapquest allows). That way I could have gone on the Garden State Parkway over the Tappan Zee Bridge, even if it may have taken longer.
The only other issues I had with it was that it seemed to lose the satellite signal rather frequently and a few times it suddendly showed we were on a secondary road even though we had been on the same interstate highway for miles and miles and should continue to do so.
I'll continue to use it, but will keep my Rand McNally road atlas nearby :)
Digital camera Review: Amazing Summary: 5 Stars
Garmin Nuvi 260 w is really amazing, i have had it for a month now, used it for both shorter & longer routes and it showed perfect directions, the spoken street name is really help full, the maps so far have been accurate and takes you to correct side of the street. The only draw back i see that it takes lot of time to acquire satellite signal, other than that it is really a useful g.p.s device
