The 265WT is an upgrade purchase to replace my 4-year old Street Pilot. Neither my wife nor I are navigators in any sense of the word, and these GPS products have gone a long way in keeping our marriage in bliss! As the eye-sight dwindles, I particularly like the wide screen the 265 offers as well as the Traffic Receiver. This feature saved me about a 15 minute traffic delay last week, due to an accident. I also appreciate the audible street identification. A great safety bonus so you are not constantly viewing the screen instead of the road ahead. Bought it in April and now I'm on unit # 4! Garmin's acknowledgment is below.
THESE UNITS consistently loose the voice. When this happens it still navigates but the system starts to hang. Also the navigation will start to hang too if you alter your route. You need to shut off the unit and restart but then it will soon happen again.
The 1st replacement was a refurbished after they promised me a new unit. With the 2nd replacement, just like the first one, I made sure that not only did I have the most recent map but also that I had all the unit updates. On the 3rd replacement that I received yesterday I didn't update it and sure enough the same problems occur.
I have spoken to Garmin by phone about 8 times since May and many e-mails. I just contacted Amazon and someone at Garmin Corporate, I'm waiting to hear back. I'm just amazed that Garmin is still selling this unit, why don't they recall these?
Here is an e-mail from a Garmin support Tech from over two weeks ago:
"Unfortunately, there has been an issue with the latest software update
on these units. Our engineers are working on an update to correct this issue, and
we expect to see this very soon.
Your account is set up so that you will receive an email notification
when the update is available, but you are more than welcome to email me
if you do not hear about this soon."

Bought it hoping to use it on upcoming vacation but the useless piece of junk would not advance past second page of user agreement. Would just turn itself off. Garmin's woefully inadequate documentation and fairly useless website offer no help. Because I could never get to a screen that had a battery indicator on it, I could never tell if the thing needed a charge or if I was successfully charging it via USB. It should come with an AC adapter anyway. Not that I can use the thing anymore since I got ticked off with it after about 45 minutes and smashed it against a wall. That's a c-note I could have gotten a lot better use out of.
Would give it zero stars if I could. Heck, negative stars. Five black holes for the Garmin 265w paperweight.

I got this GPS for my son - it's an updated version of my nuvi and has all the bells and whistles that a computer guru demands!!He loves it! He's a firefighter and it helps so much with finding houses in the area and has updates with it, so he can stay on top of the growing cities surrounding us.
