My first GPS, but I like that it is portable. It does seem to take a while to 'warm up' when I first turn it on...takes a few minutes to establish location and maps. Only thing I can think of that just mildly bothers me is that the key board is in alphabetical order and alphanumeric. I've looked for a change in settings, but was unsuccessful. Seems to have good battery life. I got it for a steal on amazon when it went on super sale...must have been like $125 or something.Digital camera Review: Satisfied

This is my third auto GPS. I have used it all over USA, Europe and England - works excellent. The strongest feature is the recovery when things do not work out - detour, missed turn ect. My only negative is updating map programs are to expensive - better to buy new GPS. This unit leaves other GPS in the dirt when you compare actual performance - not yada yada yada crap you read from "techies" in the blogs/advertisments. The pedestrian mode is weak, however who walks around using a GPS to go places? Digital camera Review: Very nice GPS for the money

I feel compelled to provide a review based upon my experience with the unit in France and around town in Los Angeles. This is my first GPS and selected it based upon the fact that it had North America, and most importantly western Europe maps already loaded. When I bought it earlier in 2009, it was $135 from Amazon. Although it is a relatively "basic" unit (no text to speech, no Bluetooth, no traffic reports, etc.), I found it quite adequate for our needs. I appreciated the minimal instructions and found that many of the features were quite intuitive. I also found that it was able to perform many functions that other reviewers didn't seem to figure out. For example, while sitting at home, I was able to navigate my way around Paris (not in GPS mode) with routing, etc. So, when it was time to drive in Paris, I already had a pretty good idea of my navigation. It took me a little while to figure out to use longitude/latitude functions, but once I did, they worked great -- this turned out to be a godsend as I had left most of my directions and lodging details at home -- one of the B&Bs we were to stay at was out vineyards of the Loire Valley (Samur region) and all I had were GPS coordinates. The Nuvi took us right to their doorstep. Another nice suprise was that this unit did work well in ~98% of the cases in pedestrian mode whether in Paris, the Loire countryside, and anywhere in Normandy. I wonder if some of the other reviewers did not switch it from driving to pedestrian mode? One of the most troublesome areas of navigation that I had was in the round-abouts. I'm not sure I can really blame the GPS, but I did miss the exit at least 20% of the time. My recommendation for anyone is to drive around at least 2 times before choosing the offramp. I also found that the 3D mode was easier for me to determine my direction in those evil roadway intersections. One more nice surprise to get warnings of the sections of the autoroute that are using radar. The best surprise was when the GPS took us on routes that were probably the most scenic through forests and vineyards -- although not the fastest (even though it was in the fastest routing mode), it was worth the extra time.... This particular GPS takes a little while to acquire the satellite, so make sure you turn it on at least 5 or 6 minutes before you actually want to use it. That's my only complaint. Other than that, it's a pretty good unit.Digital camera Review: Good basic gps

I got the nuvi 270 gps because I travel in the US and Europe , and this gps has both maps pre installed . The gps was refurbished but look like new and the price was very good( $ 127 including shippig ). It has only the basic , what I mean is that this is only a Gps , no mp3 player , no bluetooth or other accessories , but it navigates just like the more expensive ones . I used it only in the US for now and I am very pleased with it .It tells you when and where to turn but do not speaks streets name . I am very Happy with it and a would raccomand it to someone whos is looking for a good Gps and nothing else .
