Digital camera reviews of Genius MousePen 8 x 6-Inch Graphic Tablet for Home and Office

Digital camera Review: Artist
Summary: 5 Stars

Great. Though the pen kind of a pen to handle. This size is perfect. I thought I was going to need a better one, but this is probably the maximum size I'm going to get.

Digital camera Review: Artist in family is 13-year-old girl
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter is a very talented artist who has done incredibly detailed work using this Genius tablet. As it turns out, she prefers to use its mouse over the pen/stylus, but this is one of the few tablets to offer both. She likes it; I like the results she gets from it. Recommended.

Digital camera Review: As an artist's tool...
Summary: 4 Stars

I have been creating and enhancing artwork digitally for several years. My sister owns a Wacom Intuos, and after playing with her graphics tablet for several months I decided to purchase one of my own. Due to the low price and large size, I decided to go with the Genius Mousepen 8x6.
The installation was slightly flawed, but once it was on my computer it was easy enough to work with. However, I must turn on my Dell Laptop, then plug it in- if it is plugged in before it is turned on, the screen freezes during the POST and my computer refuses to boot. Turning it off and unplugging the tablet fixes this.
The main problem I have with this tablet is how it reacts to my main tool- Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0. No matter what I do with the pressure sensitivity settings (both the tablet's and Photoshops) when using pressure sensitive tools (such as the program's drawing tools) an excessive amount of force is required to get a line to appear. I find myself setting the brush size to forty or so, when the line I'm getting is only about five. Other versions of Photoshop might fix this, but it's very annoying. Corel Painter (not the trial version that comes with the program, but my own full version) macromedia flash, and Jasc Paint Shop don't have this problem.
My final opinion is that, for a normal user, this tablet is more than adequate. For an artist, however, if you can afford a Wacom (which, I might add, also have a more comfortable surface to draw on) do so, if not, this tablet will definitly get you started. It's a lot of fun, and still capable of creating lovely images.

Digital camera Review: Average
Summary: 3 Stars

Honestly, I'm not sure if I should recommend this. The price is right, though, which is why I give it an average score. The sensitivity is not so sensitive, and it's hard to make it work well with Photoshop. I recommend it for not-so-great artists or for display projects where you don't have to be very artistic. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Digital camera Review: Average Quality
Summary: 3 Stars

It works...not well. I would suggest for a child, perfect. For any real drawing, adult..not this one. No problem with it in over a year.
