Digital camera reviews of Genius MousePen 8 x 6-Inch Graphic Tablet for Home and Office

Digital camera Review: Bang for the Buck !
Summary: 5 Stars

I received the Genius 6 x 8 tablet for Christmas ( which I begged my wife for lol ) I have a lot of inking projects that I'm committed to and also for my art in general . I have previously owned a lower-end Wacom tablet and right now I own a PC with 256mb of RAM!( which I dearly ,dearly thank the LORD for ) Now that being said here's the skinny :
Physically the plastic doesn't feel as thick as the Wacom graphite or as I imagine the bamboo (but its still very good ) but nice and large working space . The included software also allows you to customize the size of your working area within the 6 x 8 of the pad . On the tablet you have 29 "hot cells" which have preset shortcuts or you can customize them to your liking ( cool beans ! )
Now how it actually works :
It does some getting used to but I was very pleasantly surprised how well it works for the price!I haven't used a tablet for many years but after a few days of constant use I started to get the hang of the pen and how I should hold it . I used it in Photoshop CS 3 and Paint Shop Pro X2 and I found for what ever reason whether it was my skill or the lack thereof with the pen ( lol ) that the pen worked better in PS right of the bat than in PSP X2 . But after a few days whether I was getting the hang of it or what , I found the lines improved in PSP X2 . Now for those that are like myself , advanced in using pen and ink but beginners in tablet use I also suggest getting Manga Pro debut or EX and here's why : the Manga studio programs self corrects your lines if their shaky ! Go on to YouTube and check out for yourself the video tutorials owners have posted .
I really really am happy with the tablet and recommend it to anyone above the Wacom "inexpensive " tablets . As an artist on a budget you really can't wrong .

Peace

Digital camera Review: Bang for the buck

This is my first graphic tablet. It came a couple days ago, setup was just a few clicks. Then i installed latest drivers from Genius website. At first i had problem controlling the pen and such. However i think it's because this was my first tablet. So i started to study on Photoshop to learn to use this better. I would like to say those who complain about Photoshop sensivity issue probably don't know how to use Photoshop. To use pen and brush tool effectively you have to setup Pen Pressure settings in Brush and Pen settings section of PS.

By the end of the day i was able to produce a professional looking comic page. I will use this for professional purposes and even though i never used a Wacom i can say it wouldn't be much better than this, since i am able to produce professional looking works with this tablet too. Overall even if you have enough money to buy Wacom i would recommend to buy this instead first, because it's so cheap and it would especially be great for beginners. If you have a child who likes drawing, this would be a great birthday present too. All it takes some patience and study.

Digital camera Review: Basic
Summary: 3 Stars

This is a very basic graphic tablet. I've used it a couple of times, it is something that takes time to get good at and enjoy.

Digital camera Review: Be Careful of Pen!
Summary: 4 Stars

This was inexpensive and, so far, good enough for my limited use with my drawing & word processing applications. I was totally new to tablets & had a moderately steep learning curve. "You get what you pay for" seems true here. Translation of Chinese manual might have been better, but then one can't translate what's not there.

There was nothing about how to install the AAA batteries in the mouse or pen. The pen can be seen to have 2 sections, upper & lower. One might expect these sections are screwed together and could be separated by twisting them apart. NOT SO! To install the battery just PULL the pen sections apart. Twisting will break the rather flimsy pen.

The tablet is recognized by microsoft Word; that's good, but I hope there's some way to have Word stop opening am extra toolbar row for the tablet on every startup. For other toolbars Word seems able to 'remember' which were turned on or off the last session. It's not hard to turn a toolbar on or off, but it's annoying to have this one that keeps coming on after it was turned off.

Digital camera Review: Best Buy
Summary: 4 Stars

If you're looking for a graphic tablet and you don't want to spend too much money on it (like Wacom tablets) and still get good ratio of gained and invested, this is the tablet for you! It requires some time to adjust to it's use, but once you get the hang of it, it will become invaluable tool for artists, designers and even casual use! High recommendation for this product!

If you want to see what this tablet can do for you and what potential it has, the best example is the art of Nico Di Mattia and his art fusion, the speed painting. (he is using this tablet as well)
