Digital camera Review: An Alright Laser
Summary: 3 Stars
First things first. Its a 5 mW laser. I cant see the beam in a lit house, or if there is sun, but at night the thing is pretty nuts. Very bright, and very good range. I guess the batterie life is not that good, but i am not sure about other lasers. The laser itself would be very difficult to pot mod without breaking something, and for a 5 mW laser, it is way over priced. If you are getting this for power point presentations, it is a very pretty laser. nice chrome color. it came in a cardboard material box with foam cut outs inside for it. (which looks nothing like what is advertised), the batteries it comes with suck, (bought new ones) but still work fine for the first 2 days. I like this laser, but it was way too expensive. do not get it if you want to modify it. there are cheaper ones. One problem it seems to have... if you run the laser too long, the diode turns red. and there is no beam. no dot. it needs to be given a break if used for over maybe like 2 minutes of run time.. All in all, i still like it a lot. its very fun to use at night. you can see the beam go on across fields or up in the sky. (all i really wanted was that anyhow)... i wont get bored of it, and it blows my mind, but i still want one with more power. Good Laser.

No, it's not red - it's green Okay, just about everyone has a red laser pointer. This pointer is significantly brighter (about 50 times) than a red laser pointer and because of its unusual color it is much more noticeable. I mean come on, a 532 nm green laser wavelength is obviously superior to a laughable 650 nm red laser wavelength. And unlike a red laser, the green beam itself can be seen in mid-air in dark conditions, not just the laser beam dot. This allows the green laser pointer to be used for pointing to star constellations (sky pointing) and also just generally look cool as hell. The green laser beam dot can be seen at much greater distances than with a red laser pointer. Since green direct injection laser diodes aren't readily available, this pointer is based on the use of Diode Pumped Solid State Frequency Doubled (DPSSFD) laser technology. A high power IR laser diode at 808 nm pumps a tiny block of Nd:YVO4 generating light at 1,064 nm which feeds a KTP intracavity frequency doubler crystal to produce the green beam at 532 nm.
