Digital camera reviews of Griffin Evolve Wireless Sound System for iPod

Digital camera Review: In a Class of It's Own
Summary: 5 Stars

This product is cutting edge in terms of performance, practicality and looks. It's CLASS 1 transmitter allows listening in ANY room in my 2 story/4 bed house as well as the backyard and frontyard. I have the base set up on the 2nd floor in the middle of the house. I also own the Sharper Image SR297/298 and they have about 60% the range as the Griffins and don't have an internal Li-Ion battery that lasts 12-14 hours. The sound is top notch with a usable frequency response down to around 80HZ . The final iceing on the cake is the class 1 radio frequency remote control that allows control of your docked ipod from approx. 100 meters! I'm planning on buying 2 more Griffin speakers and patching them in to my current system. The base can handle a total of 8 Griffins at one time! I've researched the handful of wireless speakers out there I can't recommend these babies highly enough. These are the best bar none end of story!....

Digital camera Review: Incredibly versatile iPod sound system
Summary: 5 Stars

This is by far the best and most versatile iPod sound system out of the many I have purchased. Let's start with it's looks first. It is sleek and modern in appearance with small removable cube speakers that are unobtrusive in any environment. You simply insert the iPod in the dock and move the two removable speakers anywhere within 150 feet of the base. The included remote will control your iPod and uses radiofrequency so you don't have to be in line of sight with the base unit. This means you can get rid of your outdoor speakers (unless there are birds nesting in them) and bring these babies outside along with your remote! Sound quality is excellent and fully charged speakers will supposedly work for 10 hours before needing to be returned to the charging base. Definitely worth the money for quality, looks, and versatility.

Digital camera Review: Just what I needed, but not a Bose...
Summary: 4 Stars

I LOVE my Bose sound dock. But I did not invest in the portable one. And alas, it didn't take long for me to want something portable. The Griffin Evolve Wireless Sound System solved my problems. I have the base in a permanent location at the head of my bed. When my kids are falling asleep sometimes they want an audiobook. I turn the book on, put the two speakers strategically in their room, and viola I have happy kids. The remote goes with me into the living room. I can either set the sleep timer on my ipod, or listen for the end of a chapter and use the remote to shut it off. When we're having company on the patio, I leave my ipod safely inside, and take the speakers out. The remote is snug in my pocket making it convenient to adjust the volume or skip a song. For me the lack of options on the remote is not important. I only use volume, skip, and pause/play. The speakers don't have the best quality; especially when on the base and not turned up very loudly. Though I must confess it may just be my unit that has this weakness. It was never a concern. I just move the speakers off the base a bit and it solves the whistling. I love this unit and recommend it.

Digital camera Review: Love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is by far the best iPod speaker system I've tried. The wireless speakers blow away the competition. I've tried wireless speakers from Sony and they kept getting weak signals. The best thing about this system is the various input and output devices. I currently have the system hooked up to my desktop computer as computer speakers when I'm not playing music off my ipod. Plus, you can hook they system up to your TV to play video from your ipod, component and S-video. The remote working off of RF technology is key too, letting you forget about any obstacles or wally between you and the base. I'd give this 10 stars if I could.

Digital camera Review: Love these speakers...wish Griffin would update/continue sales
Summary: 5 Stars

We loved our first set of speakers so much, we bought a second set (with a base unit). We would have been happy buying two separate speakers, but Griffin doesn't sell them anymore (though they did at one point).

I think what we like most is the flexibility. You can hook them up to an iPod, computer, TV/stereo, and then take them anywhere within a reasonable range. I've listened to countless mlb baseball games while grilling outside (with the unit hooked up to a computer). It's nice to just take some speakers wherever I'm working (kitchen, backrooms) without worrying about speaker installation. If you have more than 2 speakers, you can simply tap additional speakers to the base of the broadcasting unit and they pick up the signal. Great way to create a "poor man's" surround system. No bass or subwoofer...yes, that is a drawback.

I keep waiting/thinking that some other company is going to create a superior wireless speaker system, but I haven't seen it yet.
