It doesn't blow a fuse like the off-brand chargers do, but it has some issues in its design. First, the coil is SO tight that you can't keep your device in a place you want it without stretching out the cord considerably. That isn't a very desirable thing to do because then it has no elasticity. The way the cord hooks to the adapter makes the device turn sideways. I can't leave my iPod Touch vertically on the console of my car. It is constantly spinning around horizontally and/or falling off the console. It charges the device well and doesn't take any longer than the OEM charger. So I guess if you have a nice, secure spot to keep your device in, it would work fine. This product was purchased to alleviate the misfortune and danger of having a dead cell battery when traveling out of town, on business, or away from an outlet. Though purchased more than 30 days ago (which is the seller's warranty period) this product was used 2 times ONLY! It charged the first time and completely DIED on the second try!!!! So I pretty much RENTED this product for $13 for one battery charge!!! The seller advised me, "Our return period is 30 days however you can contact the manufacturer directly for warranty." I understand a return period being firm for a product that actually works, but what about for a LEMON or a DEFECT. Please tell me this product was designed to work more than once. I was extremely inconvenienced and stranded in another city, traveling by vehicle, without a charged cell phone for 4 days. My review will provide conflicting information to previous reviews. That said I provide my review in good faith hoping it will prevent another buyer from encountering the same problem.
This car charger does NOT fit 3g iPhones. I purchased this car charger at WalMart which sells it a dollar cheaper then the lowest price currently listed on Amazon (1 Feb, 2009.) When the first unit would not attach where the base of the phone connects to the charging cord, I returned it for an exchange. With permission from WalMart Management I opened a second (and subsequently two additional) units to see if they would fit my iPhone. None of the Griffin PowerJolt Car Chargers would attach. To assure myself my iPhone wasn't at issue, I was allowed to open a different manufacturer's product and that car charger fit correctly.
I strongly recommend you try this product before buying it. If other members are able to connect this to their 3G iPhone then there are significant differences in the quality and workmanship found in this Griffin product line.

I received this in a timely manner from Amazon. It is working fine so far. I gave this 4/5 stars because I think the cord should have been longer or minus the springy part. This is no fault of Amazon though. It is simply a design weakness by Griffin.
