Digital camera reviews of Griffin RoadTrip FM Transmitter and Car Charger for iPod (Black)Digital camera Review: Better than the Nano ITrip Summary: 5 Stars
The Roadtrip proved to be more dependable than the ITrip for the Nano in so many ways. The Nano attaches securely and easily to the device, whereas my Nano used to slip off the ITrip device. Also, the RoadTrip can accomodate all IPods, not just the Nano (though I'm not sure if it can accomodate the 1st generation Ipods...) The Roadtrip transmission comes in very nicely. With the ITrip in my car, you had to wave the unit at the right angle to get a clear reception, and then hold it there. Usually, this would be at an uncomfortable position where you just couldn't set the ITrip down. I also bought the RoadTrip on sale, and it was a lot cheaper than the overpriced ITrip. Plus, it comes with a charger so you never have to worry about your IPod running out of batteries. My only problems with the Roadtrip is that it gets a little tedious trying to change the songs and keep your eyes on the road at the same time. If it came with a remote control, the RoadTrip would be absolutely, positively perfect. As far as transmitters are concerned, this is the best on the market.
Digital camera Review: Better than the iTrip Summary: 5 Stars
I used to own a Griffin iTrip, but unfortunately it got stolen out of my car. So I had to buy a new one. While looking on Amazon, I stumbled upon this device. And by the looks of it, I thought that this was exactly what I needed! It mounts iPod in place next to my radio, which makes it easier to work with. Also, as with the iTrip, if I'm going up a hill, there's the danger of the iPod falling off of my dashboard. No more with the RoadTrip. Also, the sound is better than the iTrip, and there's little to no interference, and I live in Philadelphia, where it's pretty hard to find an empty radio station. So if you're out in the middle of nowhere, it's gonna be even better for you! Not to say the the iTrip wasn't a great device, It certainly came in handy for me. But I'm gonna have to say that the RoadTrip is a far superior product, and would recommend it to anybody looking for something like this for their iPod.
Digital camera Review: Blew out my stereo system! Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this second hand, and I put it in the cigarette lighter. As soon as I did, my entire stereo blew out and I had to go to the dealership to fix it. I think I'd rather have the cassette stereo hooked to the iPod because its much less damage and plays better than trying to find a dang station in the middle of a huge metropolis.
Digital camera Review: Broken Summary: 1 Stars
I used it only for 2hours or so while driving and after a while, the green light was gone. No matter what I did, the power indicater was not turned on. I am not sure if it was broken while driving and it was too late to returned this product. Sorry it is only one star. If it was working fine, I would have given 4 stars.
Digital camera Review: Buyer beware!!! Summary: 1 Stars
I have tried both the Griffin Road Trip and the Belkin Tunebase with my iPod Classic, and found both products to be worthless. I don't live in a major metropolitan area, though it's still hard to find an empty space on the dial without a strong signal on either side of it. Nonetheless, trying every available spot on the dial resulted in occasional success, only to be compromised with unacceptable amounts of static a block away. I have an '03 VW Passat, and perhaps the radio is more shielded than others. Bottom line: it's an expensive gamble!
