Digital camera Review: Griffin Mic OK if settings are right

Bought the Griffin iTalk Pro - Microphone after trying one of my friends. For $20 it works pretty well. On music ( I record my gigs for my own review) set the sensitivity to LOW GAIN.
Pros- picks up bass well, records in near cd quality (14 bit, 44.1K). Records meetings well.
Cons-automatic gain setting abruptly switches from hi to low and sounds like a bad connection and drop out, not a big deal when recording voice but ruins music.,
No published specs on external mic input jack.
Stereo spread not great, could be better if mics face away from each other a bit.
You have to reset sensitivity every time you use it. Would be nice to just have a switch on the mic.

I use it for recording my Professor at College, works great and with the easiness of my G5 Ipod I down load it to itunes as a wav file, from there I can do what ever I want. If you set it to mono you use half the HD space on your Ipod with no quality difference. No extra software, no extra cables, I didn't have to buy another gadget and deal with the compatibility problems between new gadget and computer.Digital camera Review: Griffin iTalk

This was the niftiest doohickey I've ever purchased. I LOVE IT. Used it to do a voice over
on a iPhoto slideshow for a history project and it was so easy and quick and made me look good.

It does what its supposed to do. Got it for a good price and it works effectively. The product saps up a LOT of battery power on your iPod. You will need to recharge your iPod after a two-hour lecture before the next use.
