I ordered one of these on 11/21 as a replacement for another itrip that died within a year. Got the item from Blue Proton and it did not work, nothing but static. Total waste of money and time. I returned this item on 12/8. Do not buy from Blue Proton as it has been over a month they have had my money and I still don't have anything to show for it. I received my iTrip today from the seller DLN Enterprises and the device is quite obviously used, with scuffs on the unit indicating it had been inserted into a lighter before, scuffs on the middle section with the readout, and finger bends in the instruction booklet. Writing this review, it is late at night and I have not yet had a chance to try it out and see how it works. Unfortunately, I have read several reviews stating that it does not charge the second generation iPod Touch. I was not aware of that prior to my purchase. That would be terribly disappointing as that is what I have. At this point, it seems that either I will be exchanging it or getting a refund. I got it for a good price compared with the exorbitant amounts some people are paying for the same thing. So, if it very simply just works as described, I will be pleased. The three stars is earned from it having been used and subsequently not labeled as a used item.
Well, here's the update... It is now confirmed that it does not charge the iPod Touch 2G. It does play, but I have yet to find a station that does not contain static. My feeling is that if I am looking in FM transmitters for my car audio choice, this will be the case every time. I'm just going to settle on this until I can get auxiliary installed in my car. There's nothing more annoying to me than listening to high quality music with static. If I could change my rating, I'd bump off a star.

After reading the other reviews for this product, I decided it was worth trying. I drive between Boston and NYC quite a bit and my 2006 car does not have an ipod input. This product has been the answer and it works extremely well. I took advantage of another reviewer's suggestion to use the European setting and its made all the difference in the world. This device is nothing short of audio torture! From the second I plugged it in, I got nothing but static. After adjusting it and moving it around I was able to get it to the point where I could actually hear a little bit of music over the static...and then I realized that I was in a car and I would eventually have to move...so the whole reaching accross the interior of the car and holding my ipod on the very front corner while I balanced the other part on my knee was just not applicable to me actually operating a vehicle(who woulda thunk it?) After a few minutes I was so frustrated and tangled up in cords that I found myself wishing that this monster of a device was bio-degradable so I could throw it out the window! I obviously gave up on it after one or two tries...I would rather be up to my ears in cd's than ever have to deal with that thing again!!!
