Digital camera Review: 2 ipods froze in 2 weeks

Coincidence? I don't think so. While I have had great sound with itrip for the last few months, 2 weeks ago, my daughter's ipod froze in mid-song. I didn't think much of the fact that we were using itrip at the time, until my ipod froze while using it yestereday. Only they didn't just freeze. The internal hardware got completely wiped out and apple has had to replace both ipods. This itrip is going in the garbage! Buyer beware.Digital camera Review: 91.9 works perfect in Los Angeles

I've had the iTrip for about a year now. It's been good to me.
Pros:
1. Powered by iPod
2. No wires
3. Decent sound (some hiss)
4. Low price
Cons:
1. Needs to be reset from time to time
2. Changing iTrip frequencies is a hassle
Recommendations:
1. Take the time to read the manual and figure how to change frequencies on the iPod to control the iTrip
2. Pick a station that as far away from any used stations as possible
3. Turn iPod on a off a few times when iTrip is not responding
4. A charger improves reception a car

I tried using this device for my beloved IPOD. It wasnt nearly powerful enough to get a decent sound. Mostly all I got was static and a small tune in the background. Its a shame, because I would love to take my ipod with me in the car on long trips for everyone's enjoyment. Im extremely disappointed.

My mother and I both bought brand new iTrips, and within two months, both were broken (mine broke within weeks). The iTrips have no warranty and break very easily. Sound quality is decent at best; expect random interference, and the weak signal crumbles at higher volume. If you are considering an FM transmitter for your car, casette decks are much less expensive and have far better sound quality than even the best FM transmitters . The iTrip, and products like it, are short-distance RF transmiters. This product worked well for me compared to similar products. But whenever there's a stronger signal, such as a radio station, in the vicinity, it interferes with the iTrip transmission. Basically, if you're in a remote area, it works fine. If you're in an area that has FM broadcasts close the station setting you're using, the signal will fade and generate static. For an external source like an iPod (or any other product) it's best to use a cassette tape connection. Or, if your system allows it, use a direct cable connection. If you only have a stereo with an in-dash CD player and no cassette, you're kind of screwed.
