Digital camera reviews of Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter for iPod mini; iPod classic 3G, 4G (White)Digital camera Review: Don't waste your money Summary: 1 Stars
Buy yourself a hammer and smash your thumb, then go buy a different product. You'll be in less pain then if you buy this and you'll have a hammer when you're done which is actually useful (as opposed this this thing). Difficult to tune, terrible reception and mediocre audio quality.
Digital camera Review: Drive time a bore no more Summary: 4 Stars
I bought iTrip because I was tired of the only choices while driving to and from work being mindless radio or CDs I burned from iTunes - this little gadget is just what the doctor ordered! My whole iPod library available to me via my radio? Sweet! I amp up my mood on the way into work with some Zambonis or Trick Pony and big chill on the way home via Morcheeba. Being from the boondocks (Little Big Town is on there too), I do not have a problem finding a station but I do encounter some static (-1 star) on occasion. iTrip is super easy to use, I uploaded all stations via the CD-ROM included so if I travel outside my routine I can take iPod with me.
Digital camera Review: Easy to use and incredibly cheap Summary: 5 Stars
Once I installed the software and set it up a radio frequency that's not used nearby, the rest was literally plug and play.
I can't believe how easy the device is to use. Just plug it into your iPod, and play your tunes. That's it. No cable, batteries, just the tiny little iTrip.
You need to follow the directions and not turn volume up past about 7/10 or you do get distortion. Just use the volume on your car radio. There's no interference or noise. The sound is great for an FM modulator.
As soon as my wife saw how easy it was to use, she ordered one too.
Digital camera Review: Ended up returning it: stay away from it Summary: 1 Stars
By now I should know better. Anything that broadcasts an audio (or video signal) with less than commercial broadcast strength or using FM airwaves (this saves the GHz portion of the spectrum, which is where wireless networks and cordless phones work) is bound to meet interference in the face. That's what I encountered with the iTrip. I was dissapointed to find that, no matter how much I tweaked it, minimal movements of the iPod with the iTrip on it were met with loud noise and scratch-like sounds coming out of my speakers.
After several days of trying it in my two cars (a Toyota Echo and a Passat Wagon), I gave up, repacked it and returned it for a refund. My recommendation: stay away from it. I am now looking for "wired" alternatives.
Digital camera Review: Essential Accessory for Music Enthusiasts Who Travel Summary: 4 Stars
The iTrip has proved to be a valuable accessory to my iPod. I love music & in genres that you don't ordinarily find on commercial radio. I love the blues & hard rock from my younger days. The iTrip allows me to listen to what I want even on short trips in the car. For the most part, the iTrip serves its purpose quite well. The only reason I bumped the review down from a 5 to a 4 is a tendency for the stereo signal to break up every now and then, causing a bit of static. Otherwise, the iTrip is very reliable and seems to function quite well. Due to where I live, the radio signals change depending on the weather and the iTrip is easy enough to shift from one station to the next. I think it is an essential iPod accessory for those music enthusiasts who have to travel & don't have the money for a satellite radio subscription.
