Digital camera reviews of Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter for iPod mini; iPod classic 3G, 4G (White)Digital camera Review: Better than newer transmitters Summary: 4 Stars
I have an older iPod and used this iTrip with very few problems. I got a new video iPod and have not been able to find a transmitter to match this one. The primary benefit is that this iTrip will transmit on 87.9, which I have found to be the best freq to use anywhere I've been. EVERY transmitter since this one begins at 88.0 or 88.1, and that's where the radio stations start.
There are a couple of drawbacks that have been mentioned by other reviewers, but they can be overcome. If you have your iPod set on random shuffle, it may go to a different freq if it "selects" it during the random play. However, if you know anything about iTunes, you can select the frequencies in your iPod and exclude them from selection in shuffle mode. It's a simple setting in your iTunes. Another drawback is that it uses the iPod's power to transmit, but I have a cigarette lighter power cord and I simply plug it in when I use it. Problem solved.
Don't throw out your old iPod! I use mine with this iTrip in my vehicle, and my video iPod for everything else. Especially now that it's cheap ($7 I think) it's definitely worth the money.
Digital camera Review: Big City - forget it Summary: 1 Stars
The iTrip just doesn't work in the New York, Northern NJ area. I tried all the recommended stations, but the sound quality is not even remotely acceptable. There is considerable static. Just terrible.
Digital camera Review: Big Disappointment Summary: 2 Stars
I loved that I could pull this item right out of the box and use it with the default station. It worked perfectly, in my car and in the house (it would broadcast on all stations throughout the house). I was in love. Then I didn't use it for about a week, plugged it into my iPod and all I could get was static. I tried everything with no success. I am so disappointed. I do not have overly high standards for the quality of the music but the level of static is hinders my ability to enjoy the music. It is going back tomorrow.
Digital camera Review: Broke in a week Summary: 2 Stars
Worked fine with good quality FM sound, but the connector broke in less than one week with just a few hours use. Must be pretty bad quality control, since I saw another review with the same problem.
Digital camera Review: Broke on first use Summary: 1 Stars
Plugged it in once. It never seemed to transmit. Plugged it in again and the display is completely dead.
