Digital camera reviews of HP 3.5-Inch Digital Frame

Digital camera Review: Terrific Device
Summary: 4 Stars

Based upon 4 days' experience I have nothing but good things to say about this 3.5 inch HP digital frame. Had the time been longer, and assuming it continues to work as well, I would have given it 5 stars. It is easy to use, the buttons WORK (unlike the 2 similar units by Coby that I tried and sent back to Amazon). The only negative I see so far (and I knew this going in) is that the battery has a short life of 2 years and cannot be replaced.
Instructions are very clear and easy to understand. Large photo images can be loaded easily from the card to the memory, or the photos can be displayed directly from the card. Most importantly, the photos are sharp and clear. The package is attractive and easy to carry in pocket or purse.
I finally was able to get this item for my wife to use as a Grandma's Brag Book w/ photos of grandchildren. Had to get it from an outside vendor as Amazon did not have it in stock. The Coby, on the other hand, which was my second choice, was easy to get. But since it was unworkable and worthless, I ended up paying extra shipping to get in here on time. So far it is worth the extra shipping costs.
I am considering getting others to give as gifts.

Digital camera Review: Wow, it shrinks 10 megapixels picture to fit on the tiny screen
Summary: 4 Stars

First of all, it does not play AVI file, it is only a picture frame with a card slot that reads SD/MMC card.

Pros:
- Compact, very thin, light and attractive. Despite it's small screen size, the picture turns out very sharp!
- Reads 4GB microSD thru a SD adapter
- It has a mini USB port for charging & connecting to PC
- Can be charged thru a PC USB port or an AC adapter, comes with both.
- It can be used as a card reader (but only for SD card)
- According to the manual, 1 full charge can last about 2 hours
- It can stand on it's own by flipping out the stand behind.
- The speed of loading/reading pictures is comparable to expensive one like Sony.
- The thumbnail screen shows 6 or 8 pictures.
The case has 2 slots suppose to be for SD card storage.
- The biggest plus of this device is that it shrinks the 10 megapixels picture which is about 3MB in size and displays it on the screen without cutting off any edges. Other picture frame would cut off the edges and displays only the middle part.

Cons:
- Internal memory is 4MB which is not mentioned in the packaging box
- As soon as you are holding it, you can see your finger prints everywhere
- There is no indicator to let you know
a: whether it is being charged or not
b: it is reading the card or frozen
- Battery is not replaceable. The manual says it lasts about 2 years. When battery dies on you and you still want to keep it, trying getting a portable battery pack as a power source.
- It has 4 buttons on the top. Take about a few trial to figure out which one does what.
- Most case uses velcro to tie up the flapper. This one uses a small magnet to close up the flapper and the body.
- Only support SD(HC) card.

Despite the cons as listed, I think it is a very good device for $50. For the 2 main reasons, I recommend it:
- Runs on rechargeable battery
- Shrinks megapixels pictures to fit on screen

1 advice:
When buying SD card, try getting the microSD with a SD adapter. It makes the microSD more versatile. And microSD card is a kind of standard on most cell phones nowaday except the Sony one.

Digital camera Review: not an HP product
Summary: 2 Stars

this was advertised as an HP product, but it is not made by them, but by a company called Luxentia. I called the company about another issue and told them I was going to return it. they were very helpful - arranged to have my credit card credited and even told me to keep the product. But I think customers should know what they're buying.
