Digital camera reviews of HP 50g Graphing Calculator

Digital camera Review: Calcultor HP 50g
Summary: 5 Stars

Is a good product the best thanks to the seller for your price is amazing

Digital camera Review: Caluculator has so much function
Summary: 3 Stars

It has so much more functions than HP45,55 and 65 that I have but there is something missing. ENT key must be bigger! It is RPN Calc after all right?

It is jammed up every possible functions including graphics but my old HPs are so easy to use than this. It is like a junk function box. Yes it may have a value, say A/L function/$ but sorry I don't like it. HP should promote RPN for simple of use rather than try to equate every users (forget about = key).

Digital camera Review: Christmas gift
Summary: 5 Stars

I was completely in agreement with my eldest son, as he choose this model for his engineering study at the university, being even in tune with the price.

Digital camera Review: Decent Calculator
Summary: 4 Stars

The calculator is much faster than the 48, especially when graphics of menus are involved. I liked my (broken) 48 more in terms of user interface and keyboard layout though.

One issue that really annoys 50G users is how it does not capture the keystrokes quickly. As someone noted (but got the syntax wrong) this can be fixed using the Keytime command. The syntax is as follows:

500
->KEYTIME

You can find the ->KEYTIME button on the command catalog (RIGHT SHIFT Symb).

Build quality: If you knock on the back of the 48G's case you can hear the difference in build quality between these two calculators. The 50 G is fairly solid for a calculator, but the 48 smokes it in build quality. Also the 48 G appears lighter. The 50G is more slippery (having a smooth finish), making calculations without setting the calculator on a surface trickier (like the old 28S).

Digital camera Review: Directional Drilling Dream
Summary: 5 Stars

After using the HP49G then moving over to the HP50G, it is amazing how far things have come in 10 years. The computation is so much faster I don't know why I didn't switch sooner. Considering when you're on the rig floor computing your curve, the HP50G is amazing. It is worth its weight in gold for a Directional Driller. You can compute any changes in TVD or surveys with a company hand or client breathing down your neck in a matter of moments, not minutes. If you are thinking about this calculator and wondering if you should get it...the answer is YES!!! Anti-collision calculations is also done very fast. I use EasyDrill (goodle easydrill on geocities) software on mine and it does a great job. I would highly recommend it. The ability to input multiple wells for one pad and then calculate anti-collision is great.
