Be very cautious when purchasing printer cartridges. I recently purchased an HP 58 cartridge through Amazon. It was printing photos with a very noticeable green tint. A test page revealed the light magenta was not printing correctly. I tried cleaning the print head and contacts to no avail. I ended up purchasing another cartridge from a local office supply. It works fine. That's when I noticed an expiration date on the box and cartridge. The one purchased locally had an expiration date in 2012. The one I purchased through Amazon had an expiration date in mid-2009. It was over a year past the expiration date when I received it. MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE DATE ON THE BOX BEFORE YOU OPEN IT!!!Digital camera Review: Excellent

The 58 cartridge does not run out of ink as fast as the no. 56 one does. Could HP make a cartridge that does not run out of ink so quickly? I like the printer and it prints great photos from the no. 58 but the black cartridges run out of ink so quickly that it is placing a dent in my wallet.
