For some reason I always dismissed HP's relatively new "XL" ink cartridges but decided to give it a try with this one after running out on three individual Black 74 regular sized cartridges in only 2.5 college quarters (oh...while in the Humanities you will print loads...). I read up on the reviews and people seemed to be on the consensus that the XL was actually worth the few extra bucks on the regular sized ones...and let me tell you, they are right. Not only is the cartridge itself almost double in size, but it feels SO MUCH heavier, like there's something ACTUALLY in there. Hard to believe eh? After all those empty-seeming regular 74ers, you actually can feel some ink in these. I loaded it in my printer and whoa...did I finally feel like it was all juiced up and ready to continue printing for my crazy professors. So yeah, if you're a college student or just like having that extra powerful oomph in your printer without needing to replace every 2 months or so...this one is for you. Cartridges are ridiculously overpriced for the print volume you get out of them. That's why I like Amazon + XL cartridges. More ink = less time reminding myself to purchase another cartridge, and it means I'm getting more for my money. Less $$ per page. Black is in everything you print, so it will run out the fastest. Amazon and some of the third-party sellers have great price cuts on this ink so get it from here and you'll really have a bargain.Digital camera Review: Great value

Although I have since bought a new printer, these cartridges really lasted a long time. I tried to buy an off brand and it messed up my printer, so stick with a name brand and you won't go wrong.
