Digital camera reviews of HP Deskjet D1660 Printer (CB770A#B1H)Digital camera Review: A piece of worthless junk Summary: 1 Stars
If you are running 64 bit Windows 7, run, don't walk away from this thing. I know my way around puters pretty well and have done everything possible to make this thing work twice in a row. It either takes up to five minutes for the thing to actually start printing, or it just won't print at all. I have downloaded the newest, snazziest updated drivers from the HP site and spent most of an evening waiting for them to do their thing only to find no improvement. Mine is about two weeks old. I am on the verge of trashing it and buying a printer that works. It is not that it never works. Once or twice out of six or eight times it actually prints something the way that it is supposed to, but it is not reliable, and will let you down for sure right when you need it the most. A complete piece of crap, at least on this operating system.
Digital camera Review: Absolutely Terrible Summary: 1 Stars
Like one of the other reviewers, my husband and I bought this from Wal-Mart because it was the cheapest one - and we got what we paid for. Simply put this printer doesn't work. It's never printed a full document. When it actually feels like printing (which has only been twice since we got it), it prints two pages of the document and then acts like it can no longer grab and feed the paper through. No amount of restarting of either PC or printer will make it change its mind. I've also gotten several "Out of Paper" errors when the hopper had plenty of paper.
We've tried using it on two different laptops, both with no success, and I'm ready to throw it against the wall. Even my husband, who is fairly good with electronics (as in, that's his job) can't figure out what in the world is wrong with it.
Digital camera Review: Am rethinking HP printers after this one Summary: 1 Stars
I have used three HP Deskjet printers over the past 10 years and didn't think twice about ordering this one when I couldn't find ink cartridges that would work for my older printers even though they still work great. Never again! This is a cheap printer in every sense and I am surprised that HP would allow their good reputation to be tarnished by a piece of junk like this. It was trouble from the start and didn't last long enough to use up the two cartridges I purchased with it. Worse, I discovered that the warranty on the software is good for 1 year but on the printer itself, only for 3 months! I guess that should have been a tip-off, my bad. However, my HP fixation is broken and I will give other brands a good look for the first time in a decade. Look elsewhere.
Digital camera Review: Awesome Printer Summary: 4 Stars
I bought it for my grandmother. Really cheap, it took me maybe 15 minutes to set up, and it worked.
It takes a while to print pictures, but that is to be expected. It runs fine with my grandmother's ancient computer.
The only thing I really don't like is the glossy surface (gets scratched easily and is hard to clean and keep clean). But that doesn't affect the functionality of the product.
And you have to buy the usb cable separate (which really irritates me on a principle level). A usb cable adds about $10 to $15 to the price, but that is standard with just about any printer (unfortunately).
Overall, it works and works well. It does the job it needs to do without complaining, and all for $40.
Digital camera Review: Big Letdown Summary: 1 Stars
Not at all what I had hope. It prints when it wants and when it does the quality is mediocre at best. It eats through ink like nobodies business and it's really picky with what kind of ink you use, HP only, which is expensive. It has this stupid system of holding the off/on button for a certain amount of time to turn it off, and if you hold either too long or too short the light blinks until you unplug the printer. Regardless of the price it's not at all intuitive and very awkward to use. Not worth it at all.
