Digital camera reviews of HP Deskjet D1660 Printer (CB770A#B1H)

Digital camera Review: Bought the warranty
Summary: 4 Stars

I got it from the hp site for 30$ and free shipping. It came the very next day fed ex. Took me an hour to set up and it's working, the production as well as I expected, sufficient for basic use.

After reading these reviews I nearly reconsidered, til I espied the 1 year warranty for ten dollars. Looks like they'll replace it overnight for one year, no questions asked. Good deal.

Digital camera Review: Buyer beware, you'll waste $100 in aggravation
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this printer about 5 months ago. It only works with word documents. The printer spool jams if I want to print a web page, or a pdf. My previous canon printer and my wireless HP all-in-one both worked great with this same computer. I have spent countless hours cleaning my system, deleting programs, and changing my web browser hoping to get this printer to work. No such luck. I just bought a Canon pixma ip100 to replace this printer. That's it, I am done with HP. It is hard to respect a brand that will put their name on a product of such poor quality.

Digital camera Review: Cheap but very unreliable
Summary: 3 Stars

I have been using this printer for about 4 months or so. While I wouldn't rate it to be the bestie amongst the low budget printer, it still gives a fair bang for the buck.

The print quality has exceeded my expectation. Even the color print quality is above average for a printer of this price line.

However, the major turn-off for this printer are some major hardware/software glitches, which often cause the printer to print only the first half of a page and then get jammed.

It gets really frustrating at times, when you have to see the piles of half printed waste-papers by the side of your desk...

I have been hearing a lot of complaints from other users about how the printer stops in the midway of printing a page and gets jammed...

Here is how I have overcome the problem...

DO NOT print the entire document (word/pdf)in one go...rather print the first half of the document and then the second half with a new print command... that overcame the paper jamming issue for me... :)

However, this hasn't been a major problem for me, since I usually, manually select the odd pages first and then turn them for a manual duplex print...

However, should the paper jam still be an issue, delete all pending work in the printer tray and restart the PC and the printer (do not forget to plug and unplug the USB cable) and try printing again...

However, I wish some of the users could post a permanent solution to this problem

Digital camera Review: Cheap price...cheap product
Summary: 2 Stars

This is the second HP Printer I've owned. The first one, an all-in-one worked great and is still working. (I regret giving it to my mother!) I decided to buy the HP D1660 since I just purchased a scanner only device , and did not want to pay the added cost of an all-in-one device. I hold my breath nearly every time a sheet of paper feeds into the machine...paper crinkles and puckers... and in about 50% of the print jobs the ink is smeared. This printer is CHEAP in every aspect.

Digital camera Review: Continual problems
Summary: 1 Stars

After I had this a short time I gave it 4 stars. But after several months its a one-star piece of junk. I have been using computer printers since 1989 and never had one that was so problem prone before. Aaargh! Disgusting!
