Digital camera reviews of HP Deskjet D4260 Printer (CB641A#B1H)Digital camera Review: PMB, MD Summary: 3 Stars
Takes longer to print than you would expect and with multiple copies, paper jammed and auto-feed was pulling in several pages at a time.
Digital camera Review: Practical Printer Summary: 4 Stars
This printer was a steal! It does what it says it will do without taking up much space. I just need it to print word documents and do a few labels and that's just what it does. Very very easy to install and set up. (20 minutes) So, if you don't mind the needless software added to your computer, then I say, it's a win-win!
Digital camera Review: Practical and Stylish Summary: 5 Stars
Pros:
-Two-toned silver and black is very attractive
-Small form factor fits almost anywhere
-Printing speed is phenomenal
Cons:
-The black cartridge it comes with died very quickly
-The software it came with has been giving Vista problems
Digital camera Review: Quick and Reliable for doc printing Summary: 4 Stars
If you need a quick smart little printer for your documents, this one will get the job done. I have had it for a while now and no problems. This is my 2nd HP printer (I used my old one for 5 years). Documents, labels, and envelopes all print quickly and clearly.
Digital camera Review: Software problems - can't adjust any settings Summary: 2 Stars
My Canon IP4300 DIED suddenly in the middle of printing yesterday. I read now on Amazon that others have had trouble with the ink cartridges refusing to register and work after a simple routine refill. I was not happy with Canon at all so I decided to try HP. We have HP printers at work which i don't like - software and performance are unreliable. But, the HP4260 was in stock at Staples and the quality looked phenomonal on the test prints.
I returned this printer within the hour. The installation appeared to go well - routine actually. But, when I tried the printer with two different common software programs, changing any setting would simply not work. Only the default settings worked. There were other hiccups too and the instructions are awful, compared to Canon at least.
For $30 more, I got the Canon MP470 which also copies and scans. Granted, I don't think the quality is any better at all than HP4260 - it's probably a little worse actually. But, every Canon product I've ever owned - 2 cameras that still work great and two printers - one of which still works great - all installed flawlessly and worked with all programs right out of the box. The instructions are clear, illustrated and concise step by step. The MP470 ink cartridges are different than Canon IP4300 so hopefully, I won't be getting a new printer in a year.
In any case, I still give the HP4260 2 stars simply because the quality and speed are great for a mere $64. However, it's all useless and moot if the HP4260 doesn't work with any of my common programs. Darn. I really wanted this to work.
