Digital camera Review: Very good price for an excellent printer Summary: 5 Stars
For this printer to be so small at a very low price it works GREAT!!! I can even plug in my digital camera and upload pictures to my PC (unexpected bonus). I would recommend this product to anyone. Especially those with an home office.
Digital camera Review: Way to much time with this printer! Summary: 1 Stars
I have Vista and another higher end HP printer. I don't know what it is, but this printer just decides that it is not going to respond at all. I can go through downloads, uninstall and reinstall. Who has the time for a piece like this? I'll never buy another HP. I have a Canon that works like a gem. This one was purchased just as a small desk top printer, but as someone else wrote the page receiver sticks out, looks awful, and takes up too much space.
Digital camera Review: What A Hunk Of Junk Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased a Deskjet 4260 last month, thinking it would save me money and that HP was a reliable brand. I hooked it up to my Mac computer (System 10.5) and installed the drivers from the enclosed CD. There was no instruction manual included, but there is never any problem changing printers on a Mac - or so I thought.
The software was all wrong. I could not access the features on the printing software that choose the correct paper, so every other page I printed came out chewed-up, as the printer thought it was dealing with heavy cardstock. I could not change it to the plain paper setting.
I uninstalled and did a clean re-install with the latest drivers available on the website. I also downloaded the owner's manual and checked the support page to see if there was a reason for this problem. When I tried to print again, nothing had changed.
I contacted HP Support. They suggested I repair my permissions. This takes a long time, but I did it. It also made no difference with the problem. Then HP Support told me to re-install my entire system (!). I did this, also, causing much disruption of all my settings. It had no effect on the problem. At each point, HP Support blamed the problem on my computer.
I went back to square one, and did everything HP Support suggested over. This took most of a weekend, but I could not believe that this problem was insoluble. Added to this fact, I threw the box away when I installed the computer. I thought I had bought a reliable product and would not need to return it. So I could not return it to the store for a refund. I mentioned this to HP Support, but they told me I was out of luck, no help from them.
After going through all this, I still could not get the printing program to work. Not only did it eat up half my printing jobs; sometimes, the printer would "disappear" from my system, and I'd have to re-install the drivers again.
Although I lost everything I owned in Hurricane Katrina and am struggling to get by, I decided my time was too valuable to keep fighting such a poorly designed piece of machinery. I bought an Epson printer (more features for the same price). I plugged it into the computer and have been printing successfully without any trouble.
Shame on you, Hewlett-Packard, for shoddy products and a bad support system.
Digital camera Review: Work Horse Summary: 5 Stars
This printer is just what I needed. It was the right price, right size, and prints as fast as I need it with clear, bright printing. I have a fax machine so I didn't need anything greater like the All-in-One.
