I did a lot of research before buying this printer.Consumer Report recommended it, but didn't think the black text printing was sharp enough. It seems fine to me. I wanted to be able to print good color graphics such as greeting cards, and also acceptable photos. It does both very well, and the cartridges are reasonably priced. For the low price, this is an excellent printer. The results are wonderful. It looks nice and (important to me) takes up a small amount of real estate on an office desk. As always, HP dumps a lot of bloatware (unnecessary) software on your computer when you install the driver, but the basic setup works fine. Want more? Pay more. But if you'd like a nice, simple inkjet for home/home office use, one that sits on small space and does a nice job with basic printing needs, this is one to consider. The printer is a very good printer but the ink cartridges run out very very fast and this is a little annoying but the printer on the whole is a good printer.
