Digital camera reviews of HP Deskjet F4180 All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier (CB584A#A2L)Digital camera Review: A really really bad printer Summary: 1 Stars
This is by far the worst printer and worst product I have purchased from HP. I have never written a review about any product, but this one is so bad I wanted to help some other poor sucker before they bought it. I have reinstall this pig at least 5 times already, it will work for a while and then no more. This is just for my desktop, I had to reinstall it on my laptop 3 times, and each time the install takes longer.
It is a huge ink guzzler, I don't know where it all goes, but I started to look for leaks. The software is spotty also, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The one button scan has never worked.
It spools endlessly, so much it maxs out my CPU and endlessly spins the fan. I have 2 GB of RAM on XP, it should be plenty for it, but oh no.
Now I will say that it was cheap, I paid $45 for it at Target in December, but it has cost me so much time and frustration, that for free it is not worth it. Anybody writing a positive review for this product is either a really low-end user or works for HP.
DO NOT BUY
Digital camera Review: Another ink guzzler; great for price though $60 Summary: 4 Stars
I had an epson sylus photo 825 printer and that was a ink guzzler it would finish the ink even if i didnt use it for the month "Really strange"; not really because companies do this so u spend money on their ink which cost 20-30 a pop for epson. So i decided to go with the HPf4180. I think im still in the same boat because it drinks ink but not as much as the epson. It has little brackets that tell you how much ink youve wasted whenever you print. This bracket goes down about 1/4 of a notch each time, and thats using the B&W with fast printing the cheapest effective way; also thats just priting 1 sheet!!!
I hope HP's "Bracket" is not an accurate count and still prints even when the notch reaches low, unlike the epson which WOULD NOT print once the bracket was at the low. Which was BS. Hopefully HP is different. On a scale of 1-10 its a 7 because of the price. Staples has it for 60.00 and it comes with both inks; Each ink cost about 20 bucks, works out.
Another excellent feature is the copier, you computer doesnt need to be on. Just press the power button, then press one button (Copy in B&W or color) and done, super user friendly and convenient!!!
Digital camera Review: Awesome Printer Summary: 5 Stars
This is an awesome printer for the price. It took about 10 minutes to install, and everything works fine. Windows Vista users...you deserve what you get!
Digital camera Review: Awful!!!!!! Summary: 1 Stars
This printer is such a headache. Prints okay, if you can get it to print. The only thing I can use it for is copies because it's not required to be hooked up to the computer for them. I agree with many of the other reviews. Software is very faulty. For some reason this machine requires you to keep reloading the disc. even though the printer is already installed. Won't work unless you load the disc again and again. When your in a hurry don't expect to get a print without installing for a hundredth time first. Would never recommend, very annoying all in one.
Digital camera Review: Beware! HP DeskJet 4100 Series Software & Windows Vista conflicts Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased the HP Deskjet F4180 when it first came on the market. For several months, it worked fine-no problems. Recently, I noticed that the Imaging Monitor was missing from the taskbar. When I tried to scan a document the HP Solution Center program did not work. I kept getting an error message: "No HP Devices have been detected. HP Solution Center will close now." I emailed HP Customer Support and the next day they replied with a five-step solution which they believed would solve the error message problem. After four hours and following the five-step instructions provided, I could not get the HP software to load properly. It should not take this much work to get a printer to operate properly. Perform a Google search (on the error message, above) and you'll see the various issues surrounding the HP F4100 series software and Windows Vista OS. Apparently, there is a serious conflict with the Windows Vista OS and the HP Deskjet F4100 series device software which makes the scanner portion of the F4180 to become inoperative. I could print, but could not scan any documents. Look elsewhere for an All-In-One printer/scanner/copier without the hassles inherent in this HP model. I tossed the HP Deskjet F4180 out the window and bought an Epson AIO.
