Digital camera reviews of HP Deskjet F4180 All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier (CB584A#A2L)Digital camera Review: Good deal for the price. Summary: 5 Stars
This product works as advertised. It was priced reasonably and we received the printer on time. Great deal. Great transaction.
Digital camera Review: Good for casual home use...not for internet or heavy use Summary: 3 Stars
This all-in-one would be great for casual home use. Have used this product now for about 5 months. Finally got the scan settings right for my use. HP says that the resolution for internet use will not give good clean, clear scans. Also, it numbers the scans for you - you have no choice. I scan 50-100 scans per day and need the flexibility of numbering and categorizing scans - not possible. Presetting the parameters for a series of scans is as lengthy as resetting size, lighten/darken, color adjustment, etc. each time a scan is done. Printer does use a lot of ink, but prints as well as the bigger more expensive printers.
Digital camera Review: Good for light use, don't recommend for frequent use Summary: 4 Stars
Great price at Amazon and it prints and copies well. The price of a replacement cartridge is much less than my old Dell laser printer. Have owned this printer about two months now and twice have had jammimg issues. However, I really don't do much printing and this is an easy problem to fix so its not a big deal for me. Not sure if I would buy it for daily/frequent/heavy printing use though. Definitely buy the cord to hook up the printer to your computer- its not included and even Walmart wanted twice as much as the one they offer here on Amazon. So- nice price, decent printing (a step down from laser but this was a trade off I anticipated)-great for light use.
Digital camera Review: Good for the $$$ Summary: 4 Stars
Well I needed to get an all-in-one unit in a hurry because I'm working from home currently and I'm used to being in an office where we have our pick of printing/copying/scanning equipment. Of course it cannot hold a candle to our Sharp machines that rival the prices of used cars. However, I have not had any major problems using it.
I have two laptops; both with MS Vista (one is Home Premium and the other Basic). The software included (v. 8) installed and is running without a hitch. I am not used to not having a printer constantly connected, and a couple of times I initiated a print job and the USB cable from the printer was not connected. I would rush to plug it in (with 2, maybe 3 seconds elapsing) and the print job would still go through ok. I also like the "one touch" controls and the ability to copy without the computer. Aesthetically, it's not too much of an eyesore; plus it "matches" my Toshiba Satellite quite well.
Now for the cons; overall the printer is a bit bulky, loud, and a bit on the pokey side. I've owned 4 HP printers; and this feels like technology and print quality/speed from 5 years ago. It also annoys me that the scanner scans documents as .jpg instead of .pdf (if that is possible, I haven't figured it out yet). This also seems really annoying. I have an old Microtech scanner (that I would use...if it didn't have that old style LPT port on it) that had software that would automatically scan as .pdf when the "document" (as opposed to "photo") option was selected. Also at work, the scanner gives you a choice of at least 5 file formats. This is really a hindrance to those who need to use the scanner for business purposes.
But overall I cannot really complain because the price is great for what you get. It's been reliable and HP offers great support and accessory availability for their products. Just don't expect too much from this unit. I think it's ideal place would be as an occasional home backup unit for use in dedicated instance.
Digital camera Review: Great All in One Summary: 5 Stars
Great for students and home users. Use HP 53 for black (20 ml) instead of HP 21 (5 ml).
Used for photocopying books, making t-shirts, etc.
