Digital camera reviews of HP Deskjet F4180 All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier (CB584A#A2L)

Digital camera Review: HP All in one indeed
Summary: 4 Stars

If you want value for your money, this is the product for you. It was delivered to me in great conditions and since installed works great. The attached software is also very user friendly.

Very easy to install although you have to jump through the usual HP hoop to install their products. The printer is very attractive near to my black monitor so the aesthetic side is satisfied. So far I am very satisfied with the output although I have not used it very much. Takes up quite a bit less space than the printer it replaced (Canon s900) plus it has the added benefit of the scanner.

Good printer/scanner/copier for the money. It was easy to set up. I bought 2, one had a defective ink cartridge that I had to replace, but overall I'm satisfied with them.

Although it is a good product, I was disappointed that a cable to the computer was not included.

Digital camera Review: HP DeskjetF4180 is totally unreliable
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought one of these around a year ago. I don't print too often, so I've used the thing maybe a total of 5 times since I bought it. Just recently, it being tax time and all, I needed to print out some forms but the printer was suddenly undetected by my PC. The power light was on, but none of the buttons responded, and a power-cycle didn't help the situation. Ok, no big deal, just uninstall the printer and reinstall, then reinstall the drivers and it should be fine, right? Nope. Talked to HP tech support and it's apparently a known issue with these models, but since it's been just over a year I'm out of warranty, and there is no recourse but to buy a new printer. You have to love planned obsolescence. They did give me some nice links to discounted refurb HP printers though, and the tech even offered to make the order for me! How thoughtful!

Next time I'm going with Canon.
