Digital camera reviews of HP Deskjet F4280 All-in-One Printer (CB656A)

Digital camera Review: Cheap printer, expensive paperweight
Summary: 1 Stars

I would rate this zero stars if possible. I really cannot rate this printer by the listed attributes because my All-in-One is functionally None-in-One. After numerous install and reinstall attempts, all concluding with a fatal error, and 'solutions' from HP, I've given up and shoppimg for a new printer. HP support; email, online, and phone, is horrible! The folks at Drive Wiz and RegisterBooster have done more to try resolve my problems than HP. They do not support their products. My take is they have had a lot of problems with Vista and wish you would go away.
If you buy this printer on others recommendation, be aware that installing HP MediaSmart is going to eat up a lot of your computers resources.

Digital camera Review: Competent Printer
Summary: 4 Stars

This printer is for occasional home use, but it has to connect to at least three PCs, one using Vista, another with XP Pro, and the third soon to be acquired with one of the versions of Windows 7. I've had flawless performance on the two existing systems, and obviously cannot say about the third.

Digital camera Review: Consumes an enormous amount of inks; annoying frequent automatic updates.
Summary: 1 Stars

This is the worst printer I've ever had, although I formerly loved my previous HP printers. It consumes an enormous amount of inks, so the cartridges run out very quickly and it is expensive printing everyday items. I used to love making greeting cards, but no longer bother because it wastes too much ink. My former printer cartridges used to last for months even with heavy use for graphics, but this one requires new cartridges in weeks with light use. The double-size cartridges don't seem to last much longer.

Despite frequent cleaning and alignments, the printer often produces streaky/striped graphics.

For several months or longer, the printer's software would annoyingly update automatically at least a few times per week - as though they decided to work out the bugs after they sold it.

The scanner program is more complicated that it was on my previous printers. The copy features works OK.

On the whole, this machine stinks.

Digital camera Review: Couldn't use because it shredded paper
Summary: 1 Stars

We only had this printer for a couple hours. All the software loaded but the printer ate 4 out of 5 pieces of paper, hopelessly mangling them inside the guts of the printer. We didn't want to deal with this problem so we're back to trying to find another one. Maybe this one was a lemon, but I can't recommend it.

Digital camera Review: DO NOT BUY
Summary: 1 Stars

I got this for free when I purchased my last laptop. Without thinking much about it, I donated my old printer and started using this. What a mistake. I have never had so many printing errors in my life. Sometimes it will print fine- sometimes it will jam and I'll have to wrestle with it to get the paper out and try again. Initially I thought maybe my paper was a bit wrinkled and it was just finicky, but it kept jamming even after i put in brand new paper. I love the other features- the scanner, the copier, the quality of pictures are all great. It seems to print a bit slower than my old HP printer did. Overall, though, you're better off going to kinkos for your copies, or having a separate printer set up for your normal printing needs.
