Digital camera reviews of HP LaserJet 3390 All-in-One Printer/Copier/Scanner/Fax (Q6500A#ABA)

Digital camera Review: A solid printer
Summary: 4 Stars

The document feeder leaves a little something to be desired, setting up the network printing required a little googling, and some of the software that came with the printer was hogging all of my CPU until I disabled it. Other than that, I've loved the features and quality of this printer.

Digital camera Review: Another HP All-in-one time sink
Summary: 3 Stars

The printer works on the network fairly nicely.
But HP software, if I may generalize, is baroque in its complexity and unlikely to work.

I bought this unit primarily for its Automatic Document feeder and scanner, but that is a dissapointment. Although it copys double-sided, it cannot scan 2 sided, which is an amazing waste of time as I have to scan each document twice for the even and odd pages, then recombine them by a lot of drag&Drop.

All the hardware exists to make it scan duplex, but HP software isn't ready.

Also I had to have them send me a new Automatic Document Feeder since the original one couldn't tell whether there was paper in the ADF or on the glass. They sent the ADF free and quickly.

Digital camera Review: Awesome machine, really bad scanning software
Summary: 4 Stars

I have used every feature of this printer with absolute delight except for the scanning software. The printer came with a defective cartridge which HP was very quick to overnight a replacement for it and even followup if it fixed my problem. Great. Faxing from machine - awesome. Faxing from PC - Outstanding. Printing - Very crisp pages with everything I had expected from 1200 dpi.

Now why such a great machine such as this one ships out with crappy scanning software is beyond me. I guess one can purchase different scanning software for it, but it was supposed to be part of the package. That's why I'm giving it a 4 stars instead of 5. I like it so much that I only dinged it by one star because of the software. I wanted to go towards a paperless office by scanning everything and storing it in digital format, but having second thoughts after I had to deal with the Readiris software that comes with it.

If you don't care about scanning documents much, then by all means, do buy this machine. If scanning is a big part of the purchase, then I don't know if I would recommend it.

Digital camera Review: BUY THIS
Summary: 5 Stars

HAVE TRIED OTHER ALL-IN-ONES, THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST. HAD A CANON PIXMA AND WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH IT TO SAY THE LEAST. THE HP USES LESS INK AND ACTUALLY PRINTS MY FAXES (THE OTHERS HAVE NOT ALWAYS PRINTED). WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE

Digital camera Review: Beware if you have Vista 64Bit
Summary: 2 Stars

Had this printer for about 1 year. Worked great with XP home. I just upgraded my computer and it came with Vista Home Premium 64Bit. I can print, but not get all the scanner functions to work. Especially my bank deposits which I do by scanning them to the bank. I order the full installation CD but it doesn't seem to work. I can't even get the software to install. Try getting help from HP support and they want to charge you $25 for online chat, for a problem that they cannot resolve. I'm not paying another $25 when I paid $23 for the CD that was supposed to work.

If you are buying a new printer be double sure it works with windows vista-64
