I was forced to buy a new printer when I [unwillingly] moved to Win 7. Unfortunately, HP does not support my old printer (LaserJet 1000). And has no intent of doing so, according to other distressed 1000 users who faced the same situation.
So, I got this one.
It sounds as tho it's ready to jump off the desk (ka-CHUNCK!) each time it prints a page, however. The first couple of times I printed from it, I thot it was broken!
It takes longer to start printing than I think it ought to. It "warms up" each time before the ka-CHUNCK, unless you're printing multiple pages on the same job.
The copies are good. And it's pretty fast once it gets printing (tho slower than the 1000).
>>Cautions<<:
1. HP does NOT supply a USB cable. You must have your own. (I think this is cheesy of HP. I expected better from them.)
2. The printer comes with a tiny "trial" cartridge. So get yourself a "real" one right away.
3. There's no manual or other documentation.
So far, this is a decent purchase for the price. Still [unhappy] about the no-show USB cable and non-cartridge!

Update (Mar., 2010): Suddenly this printer has started to print more copies than I ask for. I have checked all printer settings, etc., as well as the printer instructions (Crl+P). It might not be the printer but the communication btw it and Win 7, since this problem just started. I have searched for the solution to the problem on the Web, and there's nothing to be had except people with the same problem with other HP printers. I've seen nothing about people with this printer & the problem - - maybe I'm in the vanguard! So be warned.
You should be on the alert to go to the print-in-progress icon and open it quickly to cancel any multiples.
Would I buy this printer again if I read my own review? Maybe because of the price and my beloved 1000 LaserJet, but I would definitely do research on other brands.
