Digital camera reviews of HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One Printer/Fax/Scanner/Copier (Q7311A#ABA)Digital camera Review: Tried and true! Summary: 5 StarsI bought this All-In-One several years ago when it first came out as I need a multi-function machine. It has held up through a move and then some. I have copied, printed and faxed many many pages from it. I am sure that I could have it fixed but it has finally taken a dump on me. I still love it. If they were still available, I would highly recommend the HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One Printer/Fax/Scanner/Copier (Q7311A#ABA) .
Digital camera Review: Doesn't last Summary: 3 StarsPositives...
You get all the essential features for an affordable price.
Ink replacements are not expensive, if you order them online.
Full driver support for CUPS (Linux & Mac)
Negatives...
When you tell it to scan off the glass, it takes a while to get itself ready to start, regardless of density chosen.
The page feeder stopped working on me right at about one year after purchase. I buy multifunction printers continuously for several small businesses, and regardless of brand name, usage, dusting, and being on UPS, they rarely last two years before something goes out. So, this is by no means below average.
Overall...
It was worth the money.
Digital camera Review: Nice printer Summary: 5 StarsI've been using this printer at home for about a year and have had no problems. The included software worked fine with Vista, and even includes a fax driver so you can print to fax with progams like Microsoft Word (apparently not included with Vista Home Premium). Black ink seems to last forever on economy setting, long after the indicator on the screen shows empty.
Digital camera Review: Reliable all-in-one printer Summary: 4 StarsI've owned this printer / copier/ fax / scanner for a number of years, now and have had good luck with it. No break-downs of any sort. It just works. I've enjoyed the paper feeder for multiple page faxes; I don't need to stand there and feed sheet after sheet. I can stack, start the fax, and walk away. Same for multiple page copies. I'd recommend it for low volume use. I don't use the color photo printing feature, so can't comment on color photo quality. I'd assume it's not very good, however. I have a Canon i960 color photo printer right next to this HP for my color photos.
Digital camera Review: It has flashy buttons! Oh...and it no longer works Summary: 2 StarsAfter setting up the printer (which is very simple), it was put to work. It worked fine in scanning, copying, and printing. Then 48 hours went by...it no longer wanted to work for printing. Hmmm, that's not good.
Pros: shiny/flashy buttons. Scans to PDF (except if using top tray)
Cons: printing fails after no more than 30 hours of use note: 30 hours of plug-in time, not 30 hours of printing). The other reviews are pretty accurate (except the ones that say this is a good product).
Other thoughts: Shame this one doesn't work. I've been an HP loyalist since 1995, using several different models. It's frustrating that the older HP printers work better than this newer version and are more reliable. Gone are the days, perhaps, when printers lasted at least four years...seems they (HP) want people to buy a new printer every month.
Disappointing, cheap, won't make coffee (or prints).
In short: Buy at your own risk, and expect it to stop working as you want, when you don't want, and you'll end up throwing it off a great height, or use it as a weight of some sort.
