Digital camera reviews of HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Printer

Digital camera Review: Color me unhappy with the product and company!
Summary: 2 Stars

I've lost track of how many HP printers I've owned over the years. Until this one all have been more than satisfactory. The first problem I had with the 6310 should have been a sign -- "technical support" was almost useless, I eventually figured out the problem pretty much on my own.

The most recent problem was a "paper jam" error for one that didn't exist. I searched the knowledge base, tried everything to no avail. An email to tech support yielded the suggestion I repeat everything I'd already done. This dialog was repeated over nearly one week and it was apparent that most of the dialog was boilerplate interspersed with observations that I was a most valued customer. What wasn't boilerplate consisted of incomplete sentences and barely understandable language.

Ultimately, the "solution" offered was a "service plan" which effectively meant I could get a refurbished machine for slightly MORE than I just paid for a brand new one her on Amazon. (Horaay for Amazon; boo for HP.) When I questioned this I was told to buy a new machine.

When I asked for contact from someone with authority it was refused and I was given the phone number for technical support because email technicians are not allowed to call customers (the word "valued" was missing). A thorough search of the HP site did not yield any customer service function.

As a double irony, I was asked to complete a survey regarding my experience with the now resolved problem. When I attempted to the web site didn't work.

If you purchase an HP device, I'd suggest you start with the realization that there is no support and you've bought a "throw-away" product from a company that doesn't care much about customers.

Digital camera Review: Completely Satisfied
Summary: 5 Stars

Ive had my AIO for a month now and I am completely satisfied. Set up was very easy and its worked well. As yet I have not used the document feeder but everything else has worked well and I have not used up the ink yet.
One curious thing, using the copier function produced very dark copies. I called HP tech support and the advice, strange as it sounds was, to plug the device directly to the wall and not to a surge protector. That made all the difference. On fast/economical settings it can spit out copies at amazing speeds. Ive been very pleased, and also perplexed about some of the negative reviews. This is a great printer etc.

Digital camera Review: Conflicting Reviews. My experience was bad
Summary: 1 Stars

I read the many good reviews for the 6310. I had a very bad experience. Could not hook to through the network. Hooked with a USB cable but could not scan. Tried for company help. On line chat took forever and just sent web pages I could have opened and read. Hard to even break through to techncian on the phone and then no help. Just told me to reinstall. Installed several times to no avail. Too many variables. Some people have a good experience but mine was unfortunately no so.

Digital camera Review: Consistent performer
Summary: 4 Stars

This is not a top-of-the-line photo printer and the scanner cover won't stand up to serious abuse, but this printer model has repeatedly done a good job with printing, scanning, faxing, etc through a number of purchases I've done for/with friends. Its hard to beat the price for a decent workhorse printer that doesn't drink ink.

Digital camera Review: Copies-prints-faxes-scans and gets it right
Summary: 4 Stars

We replaced our old HP Officejet 6310 with a new one (the old lived a long and useful life; it was time), and we did it with Amazon because, as usual, the price was very right. Considering all its responsibilities, this printer takes up little space, and gets the job(s) done - simply enough for two folks who are not terribly adept at technology. Its only flaw - printing is somewhat slow. Other than that, we give it an A+ for quality, durability, and ease of use.
