Digital camera reviews of HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One PrinterDigital camera Review: DON'T BUY IT! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE Summary: 1 Stars
Shortly after the warranty expired the printer quit working. It showed error message about "paper jam" and there was not a paper jam. I contacted HP on the phone twice and once online. It would not reset and HP would not replace it. There is no fix for this problem. I found customer service at HP to be the worse I have ever dealt with. They would only offer a refurb at a price which was higher than I could buy a new one at most stores. This will be the last HP product for me. I also had a HP CD writer that did not work. I hate HP products! I replaced the HP printer with a Canon MP530 for half the price of the HP and it works perfectly.
Digital camera Review: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Summary: 1 Stars
This was the last HP product I'll buy.
I bought it with the intent of getting a decent product at a reasonable price. I got the latter but certainly not the former! What a piece of junk!!
Generally speaking, you do get what you pay for. So, I'm going to buy something a bit more expensive, but not an HP product. Incidentally, the is my third and last bad experience with HP.
Happy shopping!
Digital camera Review: Decent machine, bloated and buggy software, terrible support Summary: 2 Stars
I have had this machine since june 2006. This is a decent machine if you can get past its software.
The good :
- Built-in networking.
- The print quality is good.
- The cartridges don't run out too quickly and are widely available.
- The ADF is very convenient.
- All the features are accessible over the network.
- Works well under Win XP
The bad :
- The software is extremely bloated. Count on at least a half hour to an hour per machine to install it for network use.
- The speed is not anywhere near advertised. We are talking more like 30s for the first black & white copy to be complete in average mode, not 30ppm.
- Some features are badly broken under Vista, even with HP's latest Vista drivers from March 2007. a) The OCR software produces garbage PDFs under Vista. b) the card reader doesn't work over the network, even after applying one of HP's fixes
- Tech support is terrible. I tried to escalate the vista problems, but spent hours with someone in India who was useless and just couldn't do anything besides tell me to uninstall and reinstall the drivers (thanks, that didn't work ...)).
- No duplex printing, scanning or copying. I need this for my next machine. But it won't be an HP due to the terrible problems with Vista and tech support.
Digital camera Review: Decent, but software leaves something to be desired Summary: 4 Stars
Installation worked on two out of three computers. (Bad CD required a download of the software.) On the third computer, running Windows XP, nothing special, the install succeeds and it checks out status correctly, but it can't print over the network which is the whole point of this model. HP Support basically says: "Reinstall software until the pain stops".
Digital camera Review: Delighted with network attached printer Summary: 5 Stars
We've been thrilled with the convenience of a home network attached printer. I've printed to it from several different Windows computers, and from two different Linux computers with great results. I was able to perform a network based scan from a Linux machine as well.
The copying function also works well for us, although we sometimes miss the B size scanner that was available on our OfficeJet R40 that this replaced.
I've also been impressed at how well it works with my OpenSUSE Linux based computer. I can print and scan from the OpenSUSE desktop without any special tricks or techniques. It just works. I haven't yet discovered how to scan from the Windows machine, but I haven't needed scanning to Windows, since I have the Linux machine that performs so well.
