Digital camera reviews of HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Printer

Digital camera Review: Devil Printer
Summary: 1 Stars

1. Devil Printer can only take about 10 sheets at a time, forcing you to constantly reload.
2. Devil Printer always interrupts what you're doing to see if it can download upgrades for its software. Said upgrades then cause Windows to crash. (Specifically, it requires an update of its "HP MediaSmart DVD Application Update" every couple of days, after which you have to restart your computer! What a hassle!)
3. Devil Printer will not stop telling you "it's ready!"
4. Devil Printer has a nasty habit of grabbing two sheets at a time and printing on 10% of one; 90% of the other, thereby ruining your print job.

Digital camera Review: Disappointment is mounting over time
Summary: 2 Stars

In the beginning, the software installation was a little frustrating. It takes a long time and actually failed on one of my PCs (ironically, my newest and the only HP branded PC I own). Finally got that working, eventually. Since installation, every shut-down of every PC with this software has been plagued by two HP processes that don't terminate correctly and cause windows to pop up dialog boxes asking the user to end the processes.

Print quality is good.

Scan and copier functions are very slow. At first I put up with this because I didn't use them too often, but as my usage increased it became more and more annoying.

Scanning black and white documents, I find that the automatic threshold is always too low, creating a scan that's too light with parts of lines missing, etc. There is a way to adjust it, but every page you scan goes back to a bad automatic threshold and must be readjusted. I have not found a way to change the default (though there might be a way).

The cost of ink cartridges is very high, and they don't last very long. This is by far the highest cost per page of any printer I've owned.

Now for the last straw. The printer has started giving bogus "carriage jam" error messages when there is nothing blocking carriage movement. Search the web and you'll find many frustrated owners of this machine searching for solutions to this problem. Mine is less than a year old, and I'm ordering a replacement (going to try Brother this time) because this problem has made it almost unusable. It's not worth the effort to fight HP over a replacement or repair, because of the issues mentioned earlier and because of other users reporting little or no success for their efforts.

Digital camera Review: Do NOT buy this printer
Summary: 1 Stars

This is the single worst piece of crap ever produced. Random errors, jams, fuzzy scans, and every other ridiculous problem you can have. Buying this abomination of engineering is aking to burning money. STAY AWAY.

Digital camera Review: Does The Job Nicely
Summary: 5 Stars

This machine has performed flawlessly for me. No problems at all. Would recommend to anyone who needs an "all in one" type of machine for printing, faxing, scanning and copying. It takes a little "brain power" to learn the operation, but anyone that can browse the internet and use a pc can learn it with no problem.

Digital camera Review: Don't buy it
Summary: 1 Stars

This printer's software and user interface are terrible. Trying to do a simple thing like scan a black & white document takes a huge amount of time. Printing from the network via Windows Vista is a nightmare.

The amount of software installed is absolutely huge - do you want 8 programs to manage 1 printer\fax\scanner? That's what you get - including some lame photo software too. It takes over your computer.

Would never recommend this. I'll be buying a different printer since it's too late to return this one and I don't have the time to spend trying to use it for simple tasks. The only thing that's reasonably easy is printing (but not from the network and not from Windows Vista!).
