Digital camera reviews of HP Officejet J6480 All-in-One PrinterDigital camera Review: After straying from HP, I'm fully returned to the fold Summary: 5 Stars
My very first inkjet printer was a diminutive HP, and that little workhorse lasted around 10 years. Instead of taking this as a sign, however, I spent the next ten years allowing price to be the primary determinant in what printers I chose. The result, inevitably, was that I went through a string of awful printers, none of which lasted more than 10 months. Shame.
After a particularly horrifying stint with a Brother multifunction machine (MFC-5480CN -- for your children's sake, don't buy this printer), I decided I could take no more from substandard printers. I had recently purchased an HP K8600dn for proofing jobs, so I thought to again look at HP options. What I wanted was an all-in-one machine that could copy, scan, fax, and produce above-average prints. The only other requirement I had was networking capability.
I selected the J6480 and have been pleased from the first moment. A few of the highlights of this machine include:
-- Good build quality. Many all-in-ones are assembled with plastic that is no more sturdy than a McDonald's kids toy. This one seems pretty well built.
-- Wireless and wired networking capabilities. It's nice to be able to put this printer anywhere I have an outlet; in a two-story home, I haven't found a place where range has been an issue.
-- Included duplexer. This was a wonderful addition, and certainly helps to save paper.
-- Good print quality. I've grown accustomed to being wowed by the initial print quality of cheaper machines, only to be disappointed when six months of use (with good maintenance, I'll add) proved deadly. The quality of the J6480's prints is quite good, even after some time.
-- It's Mac friendly. I have one PC and two Mac laptops floating around; the latter two computers had no issues connecting to this printer.
-- Two ink tanks, common inks (easily found), and easy ink installation.
There are a few things one should note about this printer before purchasing:
-- On initial network setup, you have to first connect the printer by USB. I know, some of you are thinking this might be obvious, but for many, it's just not. Just keep it in mind.
-- In my case, the initial software installation and setup took a good 45 minutes. That may have more to do with my Celeron-based PC than anything else, but it's worth noting.
Considering those are my only warnings, I can only conclude by saying this is a great printer choice, especially when one considers the cost. It only took ten years, but HP has finally brought me back into their family.
Digital camera Review: All around good! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this print after it was recommended to me by my friend. It was easy to install and it's quite simple to use. I am not using the wireless part of it, soI can't really coment on that. All I had to do was plug it in and insert the CD into the compter. Everything else it did on it's own. It prints all items with ease and all functions work on a one button touch basis. I highly recommend this product, as it is a great product for the cost.

Slow to print; uses a lot of ink. Has no phone so had to keep my old phone/fax connected to get messages and faxes. Good copy and scan features.
Digital camera Review: Amazing What This Thing Can Do Summary: 5 Stars
I just set this up and can't begin to tell you all how pleased I am with this wonderful product. It really does live up to it's billing. And everythhing it does is so intuitive. The control panel is a joy to use and all of it's many features function flawlessly. The automatic document feeder is fabulous and it never gets jammed or feeds more than one piece of paper at a time. I had occassion to give the duplexer (prints on both sides of one piece of paper) a real "trial by fire." The unit does not come with a manual (that sucks). It's on the provided CD. I like a paper copy of an operating manual so I printed out all 212 pages duplexed in "fast draft" quality. I was expecting the print quality to be so-so at best for this setting but was amazed at how good it looked as it printed. And the duplexer worked flawlessly, printing out all 212 pages on "only" 106 pages of paper.
Now for a couple of nitpick negatives. The unit is not the quietest in operation so don't expect to be using it at 2:00AM with your spouse trying to sleep. Not at least unless you enjoy getting yelled at. And the supplied software is a little buggy. We had to uninstall and reinstall it twice before getting it to work properly and we're just running Windows XP with a USB connection (no wireless). That's about all I can think of to criticize so far.
The unit is very attractive and a lot smaller and less obtrusive that the highly rated Canon 850. And the illumination for the LCD panel is a very attractive pure white rather than that drab 'sort-of-green' that you sometimes see on LCD's. And the price was fabulous. I paid $149.95 with no delivery (sorry Amazon, I love you, but this time you weren't the cheapest). Five years ago something like this would have cost north of $500.
Amazing, just amazing.

HP Officejet J6480 All-in-One Printer
I recently purchased this printer even after reading the reviews (good and bad) on here because it had all the features I wanted for a great price. I don't normally review items I purchase but because of how confusing the reviews can be, I thought I might help out anyone that needs some purchase advice. Now on to the review.
Like I said, I've had the printer for less than one week but I'm not going to review the features, i'm going to review the biggest problem I had reading the reviews and that's the setup of the printer.
I recently bought a new router (which I will review also for the same reasons) and it came along with the printer so I set them both up at the same time. Once the router was up and secure, I moved onto the printer which was much easier than most have said in their reviews. For starters, I read in the review to not install the HP software so i didn't. I also didn't use the usb connection at all to setup the printer. I plugged in the power supply, went through the standard ink and paper setup which took about 5 minutes. Next I plugged in the network cable to the router and went into the display menu to setup the network. Simple as can be, it asked for my network password and in less than 1 minute, it had an IP address dynamically. For those of you interested in wireless, it's just as easy. Everything for the network can be configured from the printer display. The only catch is you can't have wireless and wired at the same time.
Now with the printer showing up on the router page with an ip address, I can access it's online setup page from my laptop and do some minor configurations. I added it as a network printer to mine and my wife laptop without a problem. Did the normal windows printer setup, added an IP port for the connection, and used the included cd for the drivers. Took less than 5 minutes for both laptops to be setup.
Overall, easy setup, no trouble, not sure what problems others had but my experience was super easy. I'm also very familiar with technology so that might have been the reason it was so easy for me.
